This popular reservoir covers about 9,000 acres when not drawn down and is located about ten miles west of Eugene on the north side of Highway 126. Fern Ridge has populations of native cutthroat trout as well as largemouth bass, white crappie, bluegills and brown bullheads. The best fishing is usually for the crappies and bullheads and some fair-sized fish are taken. Reservoir has a tremendous population of carp which don't seem to get to true lunker size. A lot of crappies are caught along Highway 126 in the spring and boat anglers can have some good fishing near the dam when the reservoir is drawn down in the late fall and winter months. The dam area offers decent bass fishing in the early spring and crappie fishing in the late fall. P Heley
