King County’s Panther Lake is located about 5 miles south of Renton. It covers 33 surface acres, has mostly shallow depths and lies at an elevation of 440 feet. Fish species include largemouth bass, yellow perch, brown bullhead catfish, pumpkinseed sunfish and planted rainbow trout.

Bass habitat in this stained water lake includes some overhanging brush, a few old logs in the water, lots of reeds, lots of pad fields and a couple private docks.

Public access is provided by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. The access area provides a dirt (sometimes muddy) boat launch area and a gravel parking area with limited but usually adequate parking space.

To get there from Renton, travel southeast on Highway #169 for 2.2 miles to stoplight at 140th Way S.E. Turn right onto 140th Way S.E. for 1.9 miles to Petrovitsky Road. Cross intersection and continue on 140th S.E. for 1.1 miles to 192nd Street. Turn right on 192nd Street for 1.5 miles to 116th Street. Turn left onto 116th Street for .5 mile to “Public Fishing” sign. Note: I wrote this a few years ago so there may be some changes.
