King County's Bass Lake covers 24 surface acres and has a maximum depth of about 40 feet. This stained water lake contains largemouth bass, yellow perch, black crappie and sunfish. Some real nice sized bass and perch. I've caught bass to 21 inches and perch to about 12 inches. This is a very good lake to fish early in the season -- March and April. Later in the season it becomes quite weedy and difficult to fish. Public access is provided by the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife. The large access area has lots of parking space and a rough gravel boat launching area that is best suited for hand carried craft. To get there from Black Diamond, travel south on Highway #169 about 4 miles to the WDFW access on the right. Photos and Overview by Bob Johansen
