I hiked an easy 2.2 miles in on the Ashland Lakes trail to a pond like lake called Beaver Plant Lake(2900 feet) .I caught an 8" cutt on my first cast but only managed 2 bites the next half hour. I continued on down the trail another 8 tenths of a mile to Upper Ashland lake (2700 feet) and ate lunch at a nice camp site. Then it was back to fishing. I saw no surface feeding and didn't get a bite in 45 minutes. A 1/2 mile further is lower Ashland Lake and 1 mile past that lake is cup lake. I don't know if these lakes hold fish cuzz I had a time limit and had to go home. I will be back next year to find out. This hike would be good for people with children as it has very little elevation gain as well as the trail being well maintained. V-Trail reports honey buckets but I saw none. For reference these lakes are located near Lake Boardman and lake Evans (mountain loop hwy). Keep it Clean Cracker Jack
