This 350 acre lake is located just east of
Highway 101 about a mile north of the north junction to Lakeside. Tugman Park is located on the west shore of the lake and offers about the only bank fishing available. There is a 10 MPH speed limit on the lake, which contains largemouth bass, black crappies and a few brown bullheads in addition to cutthroat and rainbow trout. A very few smallmouth bass have been caught in the last couple of years and each year a number of steelhead become trapped in the lake due to low water in the Eel Creek outlet. Eel Creek has a fair population of small largemouth bass that act a lot like the cutthroat trout they share the stream with. Eel Lake seems devoid of oxygen at depths of more than 40 feet, but seems to have a good crayfish population at more shallow depths. A recently constructed trail encircles much of the south side of the lake. P Heley
