Tis The Season... To Go Fishing!

The holiday season has crept up on us already and many are chomping at the bit for the spring fishing season to come around again. Just because we are in the middle of winter and many parts of the country are already embedded in snow, it doesn’t mean that fishing has to stop. There are still many opportunities to get out there and fish, whether is for Salmon, Steelhead, Walleye, Trout, Panfish and yes that’s right, Kokanee.
There are many lakes and rivers that offer year round fishing and if
you can withstand the elements, the results can be profound. A benefit
to fishing in inclement weather is the lack of crowds that you’d normally get with spring, summer or fall fishing.
Ice fishing continues to be a mainstay during the holiday season and for some families, it’s a tradition. There is a sense of camaraderie when conducting this type of fishing and preparation is essential, so that nobody gets cold enough to ruin a trip. Safety is always a concern, so before you just haul all your equipment on the ice, ensure it is thick enough to hold people and equipment. So break out the warm clothes, sleds, augers and shanty’s and get out there!!
Mack’s Lure offers all types of products that provide excellent results when ice fishing. If you haven’t tried it already, try using a Mack’s Lure Glo® Hook. This hook is not dipped in any type of glow material, rather it is hand crafted and comprised of a hard plastic, non-floating material. Our secret supercharged formula creates an incredible glow. There are many species of insects (fish food) that give a glow-like appearance in the water (especially in deep, dark water), so tip that hook with your favorite type of bait, then wait for your rod tip to bend over. The Glo Hooks come in different styles and colors as well. There is a Bronze, Red, Sparkle-Tail Fly, and Treble Series. Since we are already on the topic of ice fishing and glow, there are also other products in the Mack’s Lure arsenal that can provide fantastic jig fishing through the ice. These products are the Rock Dancer Bucktail Jig®, Glo® Getter Maribou Jig, Smile Blade® UV Jig™, UV Magic™ Imperial Spoon and the ever so popular Sonic Baitfish®. The jigs themselves (minus the Sonic Baitfish) also offerglow-in-the-dark eyes which can help entice more fish as well.
