catch and release with powerbait?! thats right
This morning produced 5 trout within an hour. All were released due to the hair rig. For those of you not familiar with this bait rig, it was originally developed for carp fishing. The hook is not actually in the bait, rather it is farther up the line. This allows the trout to swallow the bait as it...

RE:New Idea
what are the two things in the first picture? What things that sink slowely and add scent? I would think that a jig would actually sink faster. Are you joking? I cant tell.

New Idea
I was sitting in class the other day, dreaming of trout, when all of a sudden an idea popped in my head. I don't know if ya'll already know this, but I can't wait to try it out. The rig is with a casting bubble that has a hole in it, filled completely with water so it will very slowly sink. Then I t...

RE:Wedding rings?
thanks for your responses. I'm sure the beads would only be a few bucks for a dozen, but I would also need to buy the blades, which I would suppose would cost more. I think I will just buy a couple off the Mack Tackle website. Sorry for my misconception. Thanks again.

Wedding rings?
I live and fish in north eastern Massachusetts. Most of my trout fishing spots are deep rivers and small deep ponds with stocked rainbows. I have heard time and time again to use "wedding rings" to troll for trout. What I know is that they are a kind of bead spinner that you can tip with PB or a wor...

Hand tied tippets
I have a very tight budget and I possess plenty of types of mono and floro. I fish in very small streams with lots of brush and lose a lot of tippets. Does anyone have any ratios, tips, knots that might help me in my quest to cheap homemade tippets. Thanks

RE:Releasing trout caught on powerbait
has anyone tried using the shelton hooks? they are made especially for releasing trout on powerbait. They're kinda expensive which is why I can't buy them right now.

ice fishing flasher?
I'm thinking of buying a ice fishing sonar device. I'm on a 15-year old budget, so I'm trying to not spend more than 100-150 dollars. Has anyone had any real success with them? How well do they work? Pros, cons?

Releasing trout caught on powerbait
I have been fishing with powerbait for about a year now and the results are great. The only problem is that I can't seem to hook them in the lips to get a reasonable release. I always get them in the stomach. Does anyone have any ideas? I live in Massachusetts so don't tell me about your "all fish c...

RE:mis-hooked oddities while fishing
In the east where I am from, there is no such thing as a striped bass introduced into lakes. One day I was bottom fishing for trout and I caught a striped bass carcass. Someone had thrown out a striper carcass, and I caught it. Now what is the chance of that happening!!! I think I caught the first s...

I'v been fishing the powerbait and marshmallow and worm for a year and I kinda got bored with it cuz it always catches smaller fish. Does anyone know how I could sift out all the smaller hatchery trout and only catch the bigger ones (2-4 pounds) while still using the bottom fishing rig. I was kinda ...

has anyone tried nitro bait for trout by eagle claw. It cost 2 dollars a jar instead of the 4 or 5 so I decided that I would try it. Has anyone had any previous experiance with it and its relation to powerbait.

RE:If only I had a private pond.........
I have a brook across the street from my house that they stock with brook trout. When the summer comes the brook drys up exept for one big pool, so I end up ferrying trout from all over the brook to that one pool. Now I feed them every day on catfood and bits of insects and fish I find. Is there any...
