RE:What size outboard for my Boat???

Man I want a bigger boat. I will keep my livingston for the small lakes, but have had second thoughts about buying a outboard for it just so I can hit the rivers. I guess I will just keep fishing the banks or wait to get invited on somebodys boat. It just sucks to fish the bank and watch the guys in...

RE:Smoked Salmon

Vac pac all the way. If handled correctly it will last a year in the freezer. If you have a stand alone freezer that doesn't get opened often you could push it past that. Clean, clean, clean, and time and temp is how you keep it fresh for a long time. OK, thanks. Going to have to try and borrow my ...

RE:What size outboard for my Boat???

I keep coming back to this one, It is just a cool little motor. I like vintage. http://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/boa/2582289985.html Vintage is cool for a vintage boat, but I wouldn't want one of those. It's direct drive with no neutral or reverse. I don't know if you could use an external tank wi...

RE:Smoked Salmon

i normally do 2 to 3 pans of smoke. so 4 to 5 hours. if you cover with a box that has a vent it will help cook it faster because it keeps more heat in longer and smoke as well Thanks for the info, I am going to let it sit in the brine tonight, tomorrow, tomorrow night, and then smoke on sunday. Wel...

RE:What size outboard for my Boat???

Livingston says a 5hp max on the 8'. Don't go any bigger. http://www.livingstonboats.com/boats_75.html Check the marinas and Craigs List. Years ago, Merc made a great little 4 hp motor. I had a 4 hp Johnson and it was the hardest starting motor I ever owned. It only had a few hours on it when I got...

RE:Smoked Salmon

I bought a "Little Cheif" smoker from fred meyer on sale for $80.00. I brought home 3 pinks today and made my first batch of brine ever. Got the fillets floating as I type this. I have always prefered dry fish and dry smoked fish. How long should I smoke for? What are some tips to tell when it is do...

What size outboard for my Boat???

I could use the advice of boat owners here. I have no expieriance with outboard motors so I have no idea what size I need. I have a 8' livingston that I have been using a 55# minn kota to scoot it along on the smaller lakes wich works great, not so much on the larger lakes. I want to get a inexpensi...

RE:Smoked Salmon

There is alot of good info in here. I dont have a smoker yet but am thinking hard about getting one very soon. What should I look for in a smoker? Will the $100 smoker at fred meyer do the trick? I would probably only use it for fish, and probably only use it during salmon fishing season so it would...

RE:Need advice on portable fish finder.

Thanks for all the info guys. I decided to spend the cash on another rod and reel. Later, when I do go to buy a fish finder this info will help me. I probably wont spend over $200, and use it for what its worth.

RE:Pinks,are they worth it?

I was out today fishing for "pinks" on the snohomish river for the first time. I kept two, one buck and one hen. It was tons of fun, Buzz bombs were the ticket. I got the hen grilling on the BBQ right now. I bled and gutted the fish right away and tossed it into my ice chest full of ice I had with m...

I left my Backpack at start up.

I left my OGIO Backack either on the sky river or in the parking lot last night at the start up fishing spot next to the train tracks. I went back today and it was gone. Someone picked it up because they left behind my lunch and coffee cup. I would realy like to get it back, it has my work keys and ...

help me identify this fish please.

I caught two of these small "rockfish" today on the skykomish. I watched them dart out and snag my whole nightcrawler right up as I was retrieving it. Little things are feisty, tried to swallow my pliers. I could not find any pictures to help identify what it was. They were released of course. http:...

RE:Need advice on portable fish finder.

Ok, thanks for the info. I have also been looking at the Garmin fishfinder 160c. https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=292&ra=true I would like one that is fairly accurate. Would be nice to get real readings for fish. But, most important I need something small for my cramped boat and best bang for...

Need advice on portable fish finder.

I am trying to decide on my first fish finder purchase. I have never used or owned a fish finder. I am leaning towards the portable units because of size and price. I have a 8ft livingston that I use to fish the smaller lakes in snohomish county. I have done some research and am thinking hard about ...
