Re: Smoking
I hear you guys. I normally use a sugar/salt/fresh garlic for salmon. This was for whole trout,I thought I would try this. Especially the littler ones. This worked for me. I wouldn't do this type of brine to a larger fish(salmon or trout) that I could fillet and smoke chunks. I also wanted to create...

Re: Smoking
I wasn't able to find that recipe from that guy so I experimented myself. I found a recipe for a wet brine that hewesfisher posted a while back on the thread mentioned above, I modified it a bit. I brined for 48 hours, smoked for almost 4 hours. The result was good but a bit salty, just a bit. So I ...

Re: BBQ Grill recommendations
How much money do you want to spend? Pellet grills are the way to go for me. Convenience and consistent temps. Traeger is the cheap way to go, the small one is around 300-350. I have it, I like it, but I would save my money and buy the best. Green Mountain, MAK, Fast Eddy's, and Memphis. These are t...

Re: Smoking
Good stuff guys! I caught another 5 rainbows today, most in the 1-1.5 lb range. I know a guy who just scales and cleans his, then smokes em whole. They taste great, of course you have to pick through the bones. If I can get his recipe I will post it.

Re: Smoking
Thanks. I have only been able to catch 1 pounders lately. I don't think it would be worth it to fillet those 12-13 in. trout, let alone being a pain in the ace. I may have to re-think my methods.

Re: Perch spawn on Moses Lake
I haven't heard to much about the perch spawn, just that it was coming soon. Have any of you all fished Parker Horn, specifically the train trestle behind Wallmart? I have heard good things about the trout when the water is higher.

Thanks for the update. I expect to fish the Columbia near Wanapum Dam and Priest Rapids. I also expect to fish Clallum County for the first time, that will be awesome.

Re: Winter Boating ?'s
I don't mean to highjack the thread that is really a boat question. I have fished Roosevelt a few times, never had any luck with trout or walleye, let alone kokanee. Just bass, not even big ones. I was told that the fishing is good approaching winter. Could you guys give me some info about where you l...

RE:Ham Hocks
I have used shanks and hocks in my bean soups, they work interchangably to me. I have also used leftover spiral ham bones with meat left on them.
