Point Defiance is a bit of a ways from where I am located (Renton), do you have any recommendations of any place closer to me? I am ok with fishing from the shore.

In the fly tying world a thing called lead thread or something, maybe try putting that or a small diamiter lead wire on your hook neer the eye.
