I need some coho redemption. Any tips?

So far this season I have spent countless hours upon hours spinner and egg fishing the Skykomish, Snohomish, and even Puget Sound from shore. I'd say I've just about caught everything BUT my target. Dollies, sea run cutts, lots of little rainbows, and I even lost a hatchery steelhead that bent my ho...

Re: Barbed barbless hooks

I love sickle hooks and use them as much as possible. It's sad that Matzuo only makes them as small as size 6 anymore though. These semi-barbless sickle hooks look even better but it seems that the company is pulling a Matzuo and is only making hooks for large fish. Come on, I'm not putting a #1 hoo...

Re: Any Good Brook Trout Streams?

The upper Foss River system has them as does Summit in Pierce County to name a few. In fact, many of the alpine lakes have them so find one that is close, wait till the snow thaws and give it a go! G-Man, do you mean upstream or downstream of Trout Lake? If downstream, does the east fork Foss have ...

Any Good Brook Trout Streams?

I'm not trying to bust anyone's secret fishing spot, but I'm wondering if anyone knows of any decent brook trout creeks/streams that are not too far from the Seattle area? Even the Leavenworth area would work, but west of the cascades is preferable. I'm just interested in doing some C&R for brook tr...

Re: Chances of this fish surviving??

Dont worry that last fish in the video is fine, you really couldnt do anything else all i can say is tire it out more before pulling it up so it doesnt move as much but you didnt drop it, the leaves were wet and you got it back pretty quick its fine! It really was all we could do in the situation. ...

Re: Chances of this fish surviving??

Normally I would have kept the fish in the water while I unhooked it and measured it, but since I had to lift the fish up an almost 3.5 foot ledge, unfortunately that wasn't an option. The fight only lasted 24 seconds, as seen in the video, so I don't think the fish was too worn out. In fact, my vid...

Re: Chances of this fish surviving??

Thank you so much!! That's what I really needed to hear. We will strive to keep our fish in the water while taking pictures. As you probably can infer, that is very hard to do at the spot we were fishing at, since there was a 3.5-4 foot cliff separating us from the water. Again, thanks!!!

Chances of this fish surviving??

Hey forumers! Recently I was fishing a decent sized creek and I hooked and landed a wild, 17 inch coastal cutthroat in spawning colors. The awesome fish fought hard for about 30 seconds, gaining flight multiple times and doing a tail walk. My friend and I were able to hoist it out of the water and o...

Re: Purpose of juvenile anglers law?

I think that an even better idea would be to set up certain days of the week when only juvenile anglers can fish and to have certain times when the water is available to all anglers, as many of these juvenile only creeks are small cutthroat creeks that are a lot of fun to fish, even for an adult! Pl...

Purpose of juvenile anglers law?

Hey forumers!
Does anyone know why some creeks are listed as "juvenile anglers only"? I've been pondering the reasoning behind this law for quite some time.

Thanks much!

Re: Lake WA Trib Salmon smolt/jack in Dec.?

Thanks for the info on the fish! I never knew that the coho could get that big in so little time. Normally I usually don't pay attention to the catch regs when I C&R since I release my fish(unharmed), however now that I am aware of the age restrictions and seasons for those creeks I will keep that i...

Lake WA Trib Salmon smolt/jack in Dec.?

Hello forumers! This might be somewhat of a late issue, however this certain fish has been on my mind for months and I have never been exactly sure of what it was. Consequently, I have decided to find out once and for all! Back in mid-December (Dec.16 to be exact) my friend and I decided to go on a ...

There are pinks in the Suiattle? That's interesting. Zen, do you think they travel as far upstream as Milk Creek?

High Suiattle River Dolly Varden

Hey guys! I know this is somewhat of a random topic, however I am curious about this. I plan on backpacking and fly fishing the Suiattle upstream starting from Sulphur Creek for dolly varden sometime next year. I will most likely be stopping and camping somewhere around the Milk Creek area, so I nee...

When do rainbow trout spawn in the PNW?

I went to the Foss River recently, and I stopped to fish slighty upstream from the NF-6840 bridge before heading downstream. The water where I fished at was slow moving and relatively shallow (average: 2.5 ft deep). There wasn't much structural cover either, but lots of deep runs and pockets. I saw ...
