Cowlitz Ho's

Went fishing on the cowlitz tuesday of last week. I was hoping i would be able to fish in a non combat fishery. I got there 30 minutes before first light to see 20 other people already on the bank. At that moment my hopes and dreams went out the door. Armed with a float and my last two pints of eggs...

Weird question about eggs.....

Long story short, i caught a hen Coho. She was nice and chrome. Cut her abdomen open to see the gold inside and was surprised with these cysts of some sort... My question is, will they cure up good, or is it likely to deter fish from hitting my bait. Thanks for the help! -RW

Re: I need some coho redemption. Any tips?

Hi Ben! That spinner technique can be killer! When there are fish around. I would definitely turn your focus to other rivers. Check out the Grays Harbor area or Chehalis river basin. Chehalis should be loading up with coho, and soon they should be up in the skookumchuck area. Fishing eggs under a f...

Good Times.

12 Hours worth of driving, 2 hours worth of sleep, 3:15AM wake up, 4 cups of coffee. 8 hours worth of watching a clear water drift float, bob across the surface of the river. Leaky waders, 3 lost fish at the bank, a beautiful sunrise in the gorgeous Pacific Northwest in early October. Good friends, ...

Re: Surf Perch

Oops i meant to say we went out on friday, but we were fishing around Twin Harbors. Ive had those days too, plagued with undersized dungies and no perch for the effort. That is one frustrating day of Fishing!

Surf Perch

My friend and I needed some salt therapy so we decided to take a quick, spontaneous trip to the coast on Thursday. We grabbed our waders and fishing poles and headed out. My friend found out with the quickness that his fears had become true... Leaky waders.... But we proceeded to march out into the ...

Re: Green/Puyallup River Pink fishing

Welcome to the forum Kiara, and welcome to the PNW! you are correct about the Puyallup River and being single point barbless hooks only. However not all rivers are barbless (most becoming barbless). If the Regs say "Single point barbless" crimp those barbs down with some pliers. As i look through th...

Re: Surprise while fishin for humps!

Ah ok. It looked close to it so made me wonder since I picked one up while it was on sale. What type of line were you using if you don't mind me asking? Ive handled those rods and they feel pretty nice, especially for the price! Im running a Pline main, and leader. The main line is CXX, and the lea...

Surprise while fishin for humps!

Went to the Puyallup last saturday to see if we could get into some pink action and test out a new rod. The rod is rated for 6-12lbs. Fishing was on the slow side However managed to hook into a very welcome surprise. I tell you fighting a fish with a light rod makes everything more exciting! Ohh yea...

Shad Fishing Video

Late video, been putting off the editing due to working. Went fishing at the Bonneville Dam when the run was still in its early stages and caught some fish and made some memories. We used mainly shad darts or painted jig heads and yes we lost plenty of gear LOL. Hope you enjoy.

Re: Serf perch, or rock bass

The Jetty can be extremely fun and at times a real pain. First of all bring plenty of extra gear for the jetty is a real snag fest. The ugly stick will work fine for the jetty, and for rockfish Curly tail grubs will work great. For catching kelp greening and surf perch, sand shrimp works good. Howev...

Salt Deficient!!

Its been a while since i have put a line into the water, and even longer since I've been out in the salt! Going to school on the east side doesn't exactly help me to get my salt fix. Checked the WDFW website for the new regulations and saw they had some up coming Razor Clam Digs. Called up my friend...
