They are salmon. I've been told they will bite green or purple corkies (many others too). Bill Herzog says to try purple or black jigs tipped with a grocery store prawn 3' under a float. Good luck.

What are your alternatives? Where are you coming from? If you are going north on I-5 I'd fish the Stillaquamish or Snohomish.

I found some boot humpies up above Sedro. I talked to one boat who had landed a silver.

Skagit Silvers

What is the skinny? The Holiday Market newsletter says there are some decent numbers of silvers in the river. Where are they? Would a trip to Gardner be worth it.

Skagit...?

I've been fishing the Gardner bar for pinks and did quite well up until last weekend. I hear there are some coho in the system. I'm up for some C & R pink action if nothing else. Anybody been doing anything in the Sedro area or should we head up river? If so, would anybody care to share a stretch of...

I shared this with fishermom in another thread, tried it last night and it was amazing: Try the pinks as salmon tacos. Awesome! I rolled them in regular taco seasoning you use with ground beef and then fried them in some oil. Seriously the best tacos ever. I used corn tortillas and made fresh pico d...

RE:Let's go snagging!

Call the WDFW until they show up. This is complete BS and these Yahoos give the rest of us anglers a bad name. These people either need to be confronted and called out, or the authorities called. They probably don't even have licenses, maybe they do. Who knows. But they are breaking the law and that...

RE:Coho

They should hit similar gear. Try Vibrax sizes 3, 4 or 5 in plain silver or gold or with chartreuse or pink. Spoons in silver or gold (shape dependent on water being fished). If plunking add some freshly cured eggs from the pinks you have been catching to your sand shrimp. Read this: http://www.coas...

RE:Tides, Rivers, and the Salmon

My understanding is usually the high tide will bring/push fish into the system. Depending on where you are on the river will determine what part of the tide cycle will put the "new" fish in front of you since the fish need to travel. Also, fish in the river will move faster depending on the whether ...

RE:what are you having luck with?

Not since Saturday. I suspect it would be fishable (plunking) right now given the cooler weather. The cold temps keep the Sauk from puking. Fish it tomorrow as the warm weather coming may put it out of shape. Call holiday market if your drive is far or hit the salt if the Skagit is out of shape. Hol...
