Beach / bank fishing in this heavy rain?
Hurray for the rivers right now! Are the pinks just hauling ass to get to the rivers right now in this rain? Is it customary for the bite to be non-existent in this type of setting? I think if I was a salmon from Puget Sound, this is one of those days I would live for.

Re: Community break in camera crew
Last year, I developed a way to stop AND stop recording my GoPro cameras with a phone call (infinite range). It does require a cell phone to be connected to the camera. I developed this for remote wildlife video, but could also be used in instances where crimes repeatedly occur at a certain time and...

Re: NEW MEMBERS - INTRODUCE YOURSELF!
Hi Everyone! I've been a member here since I learned to bank fish this summer, spoiled by the great pink run we had. I'm looking forward to adventuring into the rivers of steelies next. This site has been a priceless resource for me with so many contributing members to educate and entertain! This ye...

Re: B.C. Salmon Virus Coverup Documentary
Thanks, Hlindsay. I'm surprised at the lack of response here, but I learned a lot about identifying serious symptoms in the fish that I catch (ie: mushy heart). Amazing even salmon from the grocery stores tested positive! I bet sea lice plays a role in transferring viruses from the farms.

B.C. Salmon Virus Coverup Documentary
This new documentary " Salmon Confidential " is an in depth look at the dramatic reduction in salmon runs in B.C., the Fraser River in particular. The film presents extensive evidence of a government coverup to protect fish farms and international trade. I'm not saying the virus is here in Washingto...

Re: Holocost on the Skokomish!
According to the story, the tribe caught more salmon than it could handle. However, the tribes have their own established catch quotas. IMO, abusive unmanned netting due to poor policing and accountability.

Over 30 new chum videos this past week
FYI for you armchair fishers, if you search for 'chum salmon' on Youtube and change the parameters to 'most recent videos', you'll find over 30 chum related vids from the past week alone!

Actually, double amputee must have done this twice before. This time, WDFW will take an arm.... sort of a "4 strikes and then you're really out" rule!

Re: When is roe too ripe to cure?
Agreed! But I'm surely not the only one who has fatally hooked a fish and decided to keep it. Also, often other anglers around me will just toss their eggs.

When is roe too ripe to cure?
When is some roe too ripe to cure (ie- loose eggs in belly)? Also, can roe be too ripe for steelies, but still good for other salmon? Thanks for any guidelines!

My smoked chum yummy!
Success! After reading so many comments about chum being pet food, my expectations were low, but I am thrilled with my alder and charcoal smoked 10+ pounder buck, darker Green River fish, pink meat! I caught it on Wednesday, brined it with brown sugar, salt, and garlic overnight before smoking it fo...

Re: Sickening salmon snagging video
I guess "ceremonial fishing" has evolved a lot over the centuries! Also, I doubt these fish are getting counted by the tribal fishery as part of their quota.

This brings up another point. How do people legally release fish at the Harbor Island bridge without pulling them out of the water?

Is it legal to fish from a bridge?
I was at the Green River today jigging for chum (1/8) and heard talk of bridge fishing being illegal. Is this correct? I can't find any mention in the regs. BTW, I was near Kent and had luck only after using up all my roe and switching to a pink jig.

Re: How to improve delay with reports
The best reports are the reports you make yourself. But my "best reports" on this site lately have been skunks. Arrgggh, your philosophy makes my head spin! I understand that we all fish for different reasons. When I get a free day, I like to explore several spots in search of fish. The reports on ...

Re: How to improve delay with reports
Thanks, Mike. For me, river reports are by far the most valuable part of this site. Perhaps WL is not able to provide the service I crave the most: Prompt river reports from the day. Too often, reports made earlier in the day do not get published until late in the evening. This limits my ability to ...
