Hey Kwonkai,
Not sure if your goal is EXCLUSIVELY flounder. However, if you are open to other fish winter perch are great from the pier, drop rig with 2 small hooks and a piece of shrimp. If you get to the pier at incoming/slack, you should get some nibbles.

Cast Net in WA
Hi All, Is anyone proficient with using Cast Nets? I went out Westport this weekend and did some throws with my new net since it is legal now. I think my circle was okay but I don't know what I am supposed to be looking for. Most videos just show people throwing into waves and catching stuff. Is it ...

Re: Jetty Fishing
Are you jigging for perch razorsan? Ever hit local piers for pile perch? I do, but I have started to stray away from it because it is supremely mediocre fishing most of the time. Winter the perch bite is supposed to be best. I don't really go for the small stripers because they are not as good to c...

Re: Jetty Fishing
Also figured I would post my perch set up, which did really well. Two size 4 hooks, small pieces of cheapo shrimp from an asian market because they have the best prices. Make sure you remove the shell so they can take a better bite at it. 7/8 oz weight or something similar at bottom, cast out near a...

Jetty Fishing
Hello People, Hope everyones fishing has been going well. I know it might be weird to not be salmon fishing out in Westport, but I just don't like the taste of salmon. I was planning on catching some rockfish in addition to the surf perch. Does anyone have a good set up to use fishing off the jetty ...

Re: Trout lake fishing too difficult?
Alright thanks for all the helpful advice, I will get some kastmaster lures. Having one active pole will make me a little more patient too. How often do you guys check the line to make sure it hasnt fallen off or been nibbled? I havent tried fishing in the evening yet. I have just done it at around ...

Re: Trout lake fishing too difficult?
Ok, that is a really big deal actually. Makes sense, I will try to get the floating bait to the surface then.

Re: Trout lake fishing too difficult?
The hook begins 23 inches from the swivel, I attached a pic of my setup hopefully.
I suppose I could put more weight on to get it out a bit further. I think those are 1/8 oz weights.

Trout lake fishing too difficult?
Hi, I am still new to fishing in the pacific northwest and I am having trouble catching anything around here. A friend of mine said Green Lake right now is pretty good. The fishing report a couple weeks ago shows that too, but I have gone four times and caught nothing. I read that the Fluorescent or...

Re: salt water steelhead
Hi I figured this would be a good place to ask since this is a pretty recent topic. I plan on fishing either high tide or low tide with a float and pink maribou jig in the hoquiam river, its saltwater, I dont know if that makes a difference. I have been told they are right near the bottom so I am go...

Re: New to seattle area
Figured I would update since you guys have been so helpful. Perch have been killing it anywhere I've gone as long as theres a pillar or some kinda trough-like area for them to scavenge. Been using raw shrimp for the perch, just dropping it down with two hooks and a 3 oz weight. Last two times I've b...

Baitfish catching
I see many schools of baitfish around the pier when I have been fishing. Since saltwater fishing is new to me is there a legal way to scoop them up around here? I know cast nets are illegal so I have no clue. I sometimes bring em up when squid jigging but thats pretty inefficient.

Re: New to seattle area
No I have not had any trouble catching salmon in Ocean Shores, I caught 14 I believe which is a more than enough for a while. I just want something we can do now that we are back in Seattle. Alki beach was kind of a bust, nothing with a pyramid sinker 3 way swivel set up. Was using shrimp. Could hav...

Re: New to seattle area
I am in Seattle 99% of the time, was just in ocean shores for thanksgiving. Squid sounds pretty neat. That is not something I have done before but could be interesting. I will do more research. I am in the University district of seattle, but I don't mind driving a bit. I am just REALLY unfamiliar wi...

New to seattle area
Hello, I am sure this type of question gets asked fairly often, but search yielded very little. I am inexperienced with surf fishing, and my wife gets too bored waiting for salmon because it has been hit and miss out here in Ocean Shores. I am looking for something that has alot of action and isn't ...
