Lingcod opener
I'm dying to hear some lingcod reports! How was everyone's opener? Feel free to share anything that was successful or anything important happening out there in the Islands. Hope everyone found some fish. I didn't make it out today but will be out this weekend in the San Juans doing a shrimp\Lingcod ...

Re: Sling Blade
I use the sling blades in the salt every year for chinook and coho with only 10 to 16 inch leaders and do super well them. I actually prefer them over flashers. What I do to get an even better action is put about a 30 degree bend in the last two inches of the dodger and that helps alot also. You can...

Skagit county waterfowl hunting
Hi everyone! I'm a youth hunter (14 years old) who's new to waterfowl hunting and especially to hunting them in Skagit county. Been on 1 guided duck hunt and 1 guided Canada goose hunt but loved it and really want to get into the sport! I know there is plenty of both those in the county- I just am h...

Re: Squidding 2016
Thanks for your help everyone! I went out to Pier 86 a week ago and got 38. Tried just two jigs this time and had many doubles and even a triple. They were all jumbos as well. A really nice school came through and even though most people did better than us I was still very happy with being relativel...

Squidding 2016
Been seeing a few other posts that squidding is starting to get decent. I've been out to Edmonds twice so far this year and only gotten a total of 12 squid between the 2 times out. I am pretty sure the biggest part of my problem is light. So far I've kind of just been going off other people's and th...

Re: Eastern WA lakes
Thanks for the advice everyone! I ended up only staying one night and only fishing Rufus Woods. Got 4 Walleye and our limit of trout there. Trip was cut short due to the early sockeye opener on Baker. Decided to come home and fish that instead. Fishing was amazing there for us.

Eastern WA lakes
I'm headed over to the east side of the state tomorrow to go out with a buddy on Rufus Woods. Also going to stay another day or two with a little 12' boat in the bed of the truck to do some fishing ourselves. (Chelan, Okanogan, Grant, Douglas, Lincoln, and Spokane county is primarily what would work...

Re: Coho / Chinook how you fish for it
wsucoug93... When sling blades come out of the package they are straight with a very slight cup shape at the leader end. About 2 inches up from the cup i put about a 20 to 45 degree bend the same way the cup is facing. This enables the dodger to be trolled faster with a better action. Good luck!

Re: Coho / Chinook how you fish for it
I generally do pretty good with this setup. I usually limit out with it and get lots of hits on it as I am letting out. I still think flashers work and long leaders work well I just favor this rig because the dodgers and leaders are smaller so it is a little easier to store and deal with.

Re: Coho / Chinook how you fish for it
I do things a little different than others. Instead of using using flashers and 36 inch leaders... I use 8 inch Shasta tackle sling blade dodgers with 10 to 12 inch leaders. I still troll this at about 2.5 to 3.5 mph though. Something I do to the dodger to give a good action though is put a little b...

San Juan Kings
I have heard people are doing decent in the Juans for some kings. I was gonna head out crabbing by Saddlebag or east Guemes Island in a few weeks and give the salmon a try too. Any tips on where to go? I have fished for kings before out of Sekiu and have that area and the gear figured out but I am n...

Re: Chinook leader length while trolling
When I fish hoochies for chinook I use 36 to 38 inch inch leaders. The biggest chinook I caught last season (a 25 pounder) came on that length. I do have a buddy though the fishes 42 to 45 inch leaders and he catches just as many and just as big of fish. . For spoons and cut plugs I go longer like a...

I also like the coldwaters. I just bought one for my salmon pole and used it for blackmouth. It is a great reel.

Re: How to get a Cougar?
Dear Everybody , thank you for all of your advice and help to me. Some people may have taken it the wrong way. I am not a person that goes out and kills just to kill, I am a sportsman that always has a purpose and always maximizes the usage of animals killed. We do have a history with cougars in the...

Re: How to get a Cougar?
Thanks for your advice Hunter 757. Bigskyx I want to kill it also because if you shoot a cougar you save 50 elk. Ever think of that? Must not have. I know about cougars and how dangerous they are i just don't know how to hunt one EFFECTIVELY.
