Re: Quiet trolling motor
Argh! The company that *said* they had one in stock (and processed my payment) didn't *actually* have one in stock. I'm back to scouring the web. They're impossible to find right now. I could get an Ulterra (more expensive), but I don't really want to deal with the auto-stow/auto-deploy feature if i...

Re: Quiet trolling motor
Well, after scouring the web, I was able to find a 24v--80lb--72" shaft Terrova Riptide model available from a shop in Florida, so that's on its way. I've also found some leveling wedge ideas online that should help with the upswept bow issue, so hopefully in a couple weeks I'll have a new setup (ma...

Re: Quiet trolling motor
Yeah, I measured and the bow to waterline when it's calm is about 34". If I place the motor just in front of the windshield (I've seen some people do this) it's about 32". I was hoping to get away with the 60" shaft unit since it's the only one I can find in stock *anywhere*, but I might need the 72...

Re: Quiet trolling motor
Minn Kota seems to recommend a *lot* of shaft length. Do you think this is really necessary to get the 72" shaft if the bow to waterline is over 34"?

Re: Quiet trolling motor
Do you guys have any opinion between the iPilot and iPilot Link (which intergrates with Hummingbird fishfinder)?

Re: Quiet trolling motor
This is all very helpful info. Thanks! I was looking online at the 36v/112lb Terrova Riptide. Probably enough for most of my trolling needs, and maybe the 24v/80lb model would be too.
I suppose ideally a 2 cylinder gas motor and a powerful electric would be great, but starting to sound expensive.

Re: Quiet trolling motor
My Klamath has an upswept bow. Looks like this: https://klamathboats.com/wp-content/upl ... 24x524.jpg. Would that make the bow-mount difficult?

Re: Quiet trolling motor
So, as far as electrics go, how do I make sure I'm not at risk of losing power? If I'm out trolling 3.5mph against the wind all day, for example?

Quiet trolling motor
I've got a 6hp 4 stroke mercury as a trolling motor on a 19' Klamath. It's a very lightweight boat and I think the 6hp has been fine as far as power goes. However, I'm looking to replace it for a numbers of reasons, and I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions for a trolling motor that is quiet, is e...

Re: Klamath boats (or other lightweight aluminum)
I'm not sure what trailer weight would actually be, but the specs I've found are anywhere from 475lbs to 550lbs for trailers that can handle an 18' boat. I don't really want to downgrade in overall size/length (even if it would be an upgrade in quality from my current boat). I already feel like I'm ...

Klamath boats (or other lightweight aluminum)
I've currently got a 16.5' riveted Smokercraft Spitfire (1999) with an early 90s 2-stroke Yamaha 85hp. I tow it with a 4 cylinder Jeep Patriot and its about at capacity (2000 lb towing capacity) when its fully fueled/equipped. I'm looking to upgrade to a welded, slightly bigger boat with a windshiel...
