RE:Sewer outfalls

I've noticed that there seems to be a lot more brown trout in the river below an outfall. But they seem to have lock jaw.

RE:FISHING REGULATIONS

I've seen several reports where people show off their out of season salmon. Two that I remember are the chinook from the Skookumchuck a couple days ago, and a chinook from the Green a couple months ago. I doubt these guys meant to do anything illegal, but it is frustrating. These guys need to be cor...

RE:NASTY GREEN COW PUKE Update?

I seem to get the most takedowns with a bright red cure - like Pautzke Red

RE:NASTY GREEN COW PUKE Update?

Jens - no picture because I dont have a flash on my phone to try and make it look brighter. those fish have must all have been hanging out in the lower river for a month or so, waiting for some rain.

RE:NASTY GREEN COW PUKE Update?

re: Nisqually There are plenty of kings coming up the Nisqually, and maybe even more snaggers on the banks. All the fish I saw were dark or semi-dark. I caught one floating eggs- thought it looked fairly bright and gave a great fight. Guys there told me the meat would still be red. They were wrong -...

RE:Salmon spinning reels

My Pflueger President's gears were corroded from using it in salt, going after Pinks, even though I rinsed it off after use.
If you plan on fishing in salt water, make sure to get a salt water model.
If you can afford it, I would recommend a Shimano Stradic.

RE:Salmon in the Sound: What should be in my tackle box?

I would recommend you go with a green/glow flashers, then run a different lure on each downrigger to see what they like that day - try cured cut plug herring; shamrock Brad's cut plug;green spatter-back hootchie;green ace-high fly;coho killer(white/cookies & cream/cop car)/3.5 or 5.0 coyote (same co...

RE:summer metalheads.

Jens, Yup - was using the Curado. Couldnt slow the damn thing down, then he snapped the 12# leader. Sure surprised me after having no good hits all day! I wasnt about to try and chase him - that river is so slippery I would have ended up heading for the salt right along with him. I dont think I've e...

RE:summer metalheads.

Wow Jens, nice fish. I went to the Cow this weekend and got skunked. Just shakers and one freight train in the afternoon. The freight train must have been an old springer that decided he wanted to go back to the salt. Spooled me, then snapped the leader.

Lami Classic Glass rod, Shimano Tekota linecounter reel(very smooth drag), 30# Power Pro (watch your knots on braid), golf tee style bead, Sampo swivel, 11" green glow flasher, 25# ultragreen leader (40-50# for spatter green squid skirts or ace hi flys), brads cut plug (add 6 bead swivel to front of...

RE:summer metalheads.

I like braid for both floating and drifting, but occasionally pay the price with bird's nests on the baitcaster. I'll pass along that if you do want to use mono for float fishing, you can get it to float better by waxing it (rub the line across a candle) for the first 20' or so.

RE:Please help this Steelhead rookie.

Some things I've learned lately: Try both float & jig, and drift fishing - I take two rods. I caught my steelie on the Green when I switched to drift fishing, after working the same area float fishing all day. Mono is a lot more forgiving than braid. But I like braid better - I even use it on my bai...
