In my entire rec. crabbing life, I've never seen a female crab busting at the seams with eggs. Were you crabbing near the fertility clinic? lol

Large Kastmaster's are great but I'd recommend Herring Dodgers for the Sound. The barbs on single hooks must be pinched off. What area will you be fishing?
