RE:Scotty Downrigger Arms
Check w/ the guys at Sportco but I 'm pretty sure you can upgrade yours. look at the underside of your rigger and remove the screw. the boom and the square socket pull out and the new one slides in. I upgraded to the extension booms and it was an easy switch, but I already had the 1 1/4 in booms.

The portable one w/ battery and case looks like a sweet deal for a small boat. Be sure to tie off that 'ducer. The suction cup can come loose and your cable ends up in the prop in a hurry.

Lowrance HDS
So, the new Lowrance HDS FF's have been out for a while and I have been thinking of upgrading. I currently have a Lowrance X136df. I am hoping that some of you that have the new setup can provide some insight. Is the new system worth the money? does it live up to the hype? Thanks for any feedback. M...

Fished with my brother and a buddy in my brothers boat, on the water Sat by 530 and took our time getting out to fishing areas. Several takedowns and lost fish but we managed to land 3, biggest was 10.6 that my brother placed 186th or something like that. He got a crab pot for it anyway. Back out Su...

the kokes in rimrock are pretty small, clear lake I have caught some 'bows up to about 13".
Clear is a lot more protected too. if the wind kicks up at all you can get whitecaps in a hurry on rimrock.

Either lake you can fish from shore in limited areas, or if from a boat, use light trout gear or a fly rod. The tough thing is that the mosquitoes can be real bad and then you will need some bug juice to keep them off of ya. problem with that is the bug juice keeps the fish off the hook too. For the...

RE:fishing for 2,3,even 4?
boat fishing in the salt and river fishing are entirely different situations and this is copied from the regs; In Washington waters where a saltwater license is valid, each angler aboard a vessel may continue to deploy angling gear or shellfish gear until the daily limit of fish and shellfish for al...

RE:Going to the Westport area and need some Help
Spent last weekend out there with three on the boat. limited both days. We were running downriggers @ 25 - 45 feet down. could have used deep six divers but I don't own any. We were pulling flashers and coyote spoons or hootchies and had a blast. went thru a bunch of nates to get limits of hatchery ...

Steve, the area you describe that you were in was/is clipped only for Kings.
The area within Elliott bay is open for either.
You did the right thing letting them go. Good on ya!

RE:Downrigger Braided line v Stainless steel cable???
Spoke with the guru @ Sportco and Tom recommends it. The heavier braid (250lb) has a lot of blowback he says but the 175lb is preferred. You will need the red line stops as they are made for braid and have an extra notch in em to help lock it. The only reason I haven't swapped over is I use my black...

RE:Wedding ring question
Hi all, just thought I would throw my .02 in here. As far as using wedding rings, if you get a chance, use a "smiley blade" with it. It adds a little wobble to the ring and is very effective. I also use heavier mono or floro line, 10 - 14lb. When tying your hooks, start your wraps away from the spli...

ckim,
check out Sportco in Fife. They are affiliated w/ OE but friendly staff and it's closer than Cabela's.
I live between the two stores and I personally prefer Sportco for selection and service.

RE:Are you a Boat Ramp Hog?
The one funny thing about boaters (generally speaking) is that they are cool as hell out on the water. They wave when going by, seems like they are having a good time, not a care in the world and then all of a sudden, when it's time to get off the water, theirs a sudden change in demeanor. Who are ...
