RE:Scents
I've been trying to use Megastrike as much as possible on my soft plastics, but haven't really noticed much of a difference thus far. Maybe it's just because I haven't been finding as many fish to put the scent in front of. My bites in the PNW are much fewer and far between than in most other places...

RE:Mickelson Results????
Jeremiah (fishnislife) and I had a great day on the water, even though we only managed to boat one keeper at 2.09lb and ended up in right in the middle of the field. You couldn't ask for better weather for a mid-October tournament in Seattle. The real kick in the junk came when we got back to the ra...

I use a 7' Extra Heavy Carrot Stick with a Shimano Citica 100DSV right now, though it admittedly doesn't get a whole lot of use around here. I would like to move up to a longer stick for next season, though. Spool it up with some 50 or 65lb braid and you're ready to go. To keep it under $130 I'd sug...

Happened to me once in Florida on a Rapala DT-4 crankbait...two nice two-pounders from around a cluster of lilypads in a small private lake. You just can't beat catching multiple fish on a single cast, though they tend not to fight as much when they're hooked face-to-face with their buddy.

I know I'm not very photogenic, but at least I managed to get the sticker on my boat straight.

I second the vote on the Eagle 320C. I installed one last year on my kayak and it's become indispensable when I get on these local lakes for finding the dropoffs and submerged cover. Now I'm looking for a new unit for my Bass Tracker and had considered getting another 320C, but I'd like to get a com...

RE:Lead or Tungsten?
I think the use of tungsten weights contributes more toward having that weight in a small, dense package that can punch through matted vegetation, as well as having a harder weight that makes more noise when it contacts rocks or glass beads. The visual thing is also a factor, but to a lesser degree ...

RE:Spree at Cabela's
Sorry..... I meant to add that you might be able to find one on sale at Cabela's since the new Citica 200E models are out and they'll start to discount the older D's as they get the new ones in stock.

$70 puts a crunch on getting a "quality" casting reel, though I guess it depends on what your definition of "quality" is. The least expensive "quality" reel that I would recommend would be a Shimano Citica 100DSV. I know they retail for a lot more than you want to spend, but I bought two off of eBay...

I've had good success with green pumpkin Horny Toad and Strike King Rage Toads. I tend to use them more often than hollow-bodied frogs around here.

I almost always start with any wood cover I can find, especially laydowns. From there, I'll look for matted grass, lily pads, weedlines, docks, rocks, dropoffs, channels...and the list goes on and on. But I can usually find fish on submerged wood.

I used to fish the Senko (or something just like it) continuously starting in 2004, but over the year and a half or so, I've found myself reaching for many other baits first. For some reason, I haven't done as well with them up here as I had in the South, but it's allowed me to expand my repertoire ...

Dogfish are quite edible and tastey if prepared correctly. The meat has a poison in it that must be soaked out using a vinager solution.I believe its called Urea.If that is removed and then bread it and fry it ,then you'll have original English Fish N' chips.Be warned about our sound sharks. There ar...

My military background started shortly after I graduated from high school in northeast Texas in 1993. I joined the Naval ROTC program at Texas A&M University at Galveston and majored in Marine Engineering. After graduation, I was commissioned an Ensign in the Navy and proceeded to my first assignmen...

I know the feeling...a couple days ago my terminal tackle box went over the side of my kayak. I tried to find it right afterward, but I didn't have the forethought to mark it before going in and one I went down the first time, the stirred up silt made it impossible to find. Luckily I went back the n...

I use 50lb Sufix Performance Braid and 50lb PowerPro on a couple of my baitcasters for pitching/flipping and frogs and I have 10lb PowerPro on one of my spinning outfits. No significant problems with either of these brands. Didn't care too much for the Spiderwire or Stren Superbraid. They seemed mor...

I'm interested and can take my Tracker, but I need someone more familiar with Lake Washington than I am, as I've never fished there. If any of you know a non-boater candidate with some experience on Lk W, let me know.

I'm over here in Bremerton on Kitsap, but I make it down to Mason County around Belfair pretty regularly. PM me some time when you're down here and maybe we can wet a line. I have a Tracker PT175 as well as a kayak that I tend to use more often. I'm going out of town on business this weekend, and I'...
