Bass and Tiger Musky

I am taking the family to Evergreen lake over in Quincy. I hear that there are plenty of bass and also Tiger Musky. What could I troll or cast to catch bass with and possibly of landing a tiger Musky. Can anyone give any advise. Thanks Mike

I know that even the smallest bass has tried to hit a magnum jerk bait at one time or another. I have also had a muskie take my 3"senko on a dropshot. If you are trolling for bass I would suggest a Rapala shad-rap. Although I don't troll for fish, I hear great things about their success. Gisteppo trolls Long Lake in Spokane all the time and swears by them for locating fish. The best part is that they come in a variety of sizes and are not expensive at all.

We fished Evergreen last year, and caught both bass and tigers on jerkbaits, I still have some teethmarks in my pointer......

Some will laugh...but muskie and bass for the most part are very similar.Spinnerbaits,crankbaits...lures like that should do fine. You might want to get a set of jaw spreaders. Muskies have 650 teeth(no bull) and a fluoro,or steel leader at least 45lb.
Other than that...you should be good......at least get the spreaders,your hands and fingers will be thankful.

I have used spinnerbaits on Tapps successfully for both species and never had a Tiger Muskie break off. I don't think you need to fool around with a steel leader if you use a blade.

The ironic thing is that I have made these for the day I will finally target them but I have not yet ever fished for them yet. I've given them to some people to field test them and they have caught muskie out of Tapps. Yee ha!!! Can't wait until I fish for them myself! Gotta make some more though. Only have two left.

I'd still seriously consider a leader. I'm not worried about some one losing lures but the safety of the fish.I know people have caught muskies with light line and it didn't break.However,this is pure luck.Its not hard for them to make a turn on a dime and snap the line.

Agreed. Flourocarbon they say, works better than steel (no kinks) and even if it gets "nicked" by a tooth, it won't fray. I'd replace any nicked one, but at least it will hold for that fish. $3.00- $5.00 is cheap insurance against having a muskie stave to death with a lure in its mouth.
