NEW TO BASS FISHING

How deep was the lake bottom at those places? How deep was the top of the submergant cover/structure - amount of water above the cover? What lures did you use? What speed/depth did you retrieve them? Did you try different lures and lure types in the same place before moving to the next spot?

For lakes that allow bait- a hook and a fat night crawler is never a bad idea for bass, LM or SM. Rig the night crawler like you would a Texas rigged Senko. I usually go weightless. This is only after not much luck on cranks/ plastics/ spinners, etc. I always try lures first.

Thats pretty close to what i got but not so long! lol no but seriously i just bought the (daiwa 100sth mega force twitchin bar 7.1.1 reel) and a (mitchel 3.1 standard reel) both on 6.5 ft medium/heavy rods

That should work just fine. I use my classic Mitchell 300 reel on a 5 1/2ft Eagle Claw featherlight with 8lb test sometimes, and even the smaller bass feel big on that setup.

Sencos are your best friend in beginning bass fishing. They will give you the feel and what to expect from bass fishing.Really no wrong way to fish a senco.

If you want to try a bait that is better then the senko shoot me an email and I'll hook you up on the Sink-N-Fool. It is the easiest bait to fish on the market as it provides all the action it needs to catch fish and is a big fish producer. All you have to do is cast it to a good spot and watch your line for it to take off. Here are a few of the big fish we got last nite on my 6" Black N Blue and the Watermelon Red colors of Sink-N-Fool's.

Lake bottom was about 8ft. Structures were about a foot off the water except some sticks and branches that were on the surface i was back and forth from wacky, and Texas rigged senkos and then a couple spinner baits. I tried to use all of them on each Structure several times in a row before moving on. When I was retrieving them I was bringing them on slow occasionally giving the rod tip a little pulse to give the sencos some action. I'm starting to think it's my technique or my set ups that's hurting me i caught a 4 1/2 lb large mouth last week but I didnt change anything and other guys near me wear catching several so I gotta fix somethin

This past couple months or more, the senkos have been working better when they are let sitting for a bit under the docks and beside the pads. I haven't caught a fish on a moving senko this past couple/few months. Only a couple on a falling senko.

Try fishing the moving baits fast, then a slow retrieve on the next cast. The fast retrieve will get their attention and if they want it they can catch it, makes for a GREAT strike. Then the following slow retrieve might get the fish that don't want a fast retrieve, or don't want to play chase, or missed the fast lure. Some people say you HAVE to retrieve a crankbait in a stop and go method, don't believe them. I've caught MANY MORE Bass on a steady retrieve than on a stop and go, but try both. Slow, fast, stop, fast slow, stop. Fast, slow fast, slow. And do different fast speeds, and different slow speeds in the same retrieve. Don't do just one speed of fast or one speed of slow, vary that also. Slow, kinda slow, fast, kinda fast. And don't forget to do the jerking routine also.

Then with crankbaits you want to let them set on the surface a little bit before you start the retrieve. And during the stop portion of a stop and go, let the crankbait set there for the count of 10 or even more now and then. If it's a foating lure it'll rise, if it's a suspending lure it'll just set there and kinda vibrate/move around a little.

Oh ya, if the bottom is 8-10 foot deep, and is clear enough of limbs and all, then use a crankbait that'll dig into the bottom and stir up the sediment, such as one that'll dive 2 feet deeper than the bottom depth, try a square billed crank for that, can't do that with a worm or jig as well.

with the jerking motion is that with every combination of speed or just a motion in itself?

Every combination of speed. Do it with a certain cadence and certain number of jerks like 3 then a pause, then do it as a random event with no set timing between jerks and no set number of jerks.

I have never bass fished his time of year. is this something i can still do and if so whats a good way to start?
