I'll be fishing quite a few tourneys for the first time in WA, I'm used to the california circuts throwin swimbaits all day and im sure its different up here, I'll be fishing Banks and Potholes quite a bite I read a few reports. Are these lakes holding hudd fish? If you dont want to post your secrets pm me.

Alot of the fishing up here is smallmouth and alot of people finesse fish. I know potholes is also knowing for a good flippin and pitching lake.

One big difference up here, is you wont see many double digit bass. State record lmb is out of Banks at 11 1/2 lbs. There is alot of quality smb fishing around here with plenty of fish over 6 lbs if you know where to fish. The waters stay colder for more of the year around here, so a patient presentation is a must, exept for those couple of months a year that you can throw reaction baits. I get more fish on a drop shot than anything else. If nothing else, fishing Washington should make you a better angler.

I meant to say 8 inch swimbait. I have a few 12 inch and 1 16 inch bait also, I'll keep it at 8 up here.

16" swimbait for bass?! Good Lord! Most of our bass ARE 16".
I know there are some Tiger Muskie up here that would love that one though. LOL.

For the lakes and rivers in California I never put a swimbait down! I won't throw my swimbaits at the musky can't afford to lose them lol, maybe just maybe I'll get lucky a put a few fish on a huge swimbait ;)

You can catch plenty of quality smallmouth and largemouth in Washington State on big swimbaits. Yes, they will chew Hudds up here. In fact, my biggest smallmouth in Washington State was caught on an 8 inch Huddleston. It's not just a largemouth lure. However, the rigging I use for smallmouth is unique; similar to how some anglers rig them for spotted bass.

Most anglers in Washington State are married to the dropshot and Senko and have trouble putting them down. Consequently, they have no idea of the swimbait potential in our waters accross the State.

Swimbaits are addicting I tell ya! Even if you only get a 5lb follower all day it's 100% worth it. To me at least, drop shot and senkos are great baits but in a tournament I'll catch my 5 then I need a kicker so I always resort to the hudd or an osprey shhh!

It's fun throwing a hudd or any largish swimbait and see the look on trout fisherman's faces up here. I've had multiple people sincerely think I was casting a trout back out. They have a hard time with one person doing it. I'd love to see multiple people tossing them and see the reactions.

Dfg boarded my boat at clear lake in ca, he thought the same exact thing! You would think guys at cl would know it's the big bait capital! But all the trout fisherman up here would probably have a heart attack lol.

The staff of Huddleston won a tournament on Hayden Lake in Northern Idaho on Hudds, but I don't know what size they used. Hayden Lake is pretty much like many of the lakes in Central and Eastern Washington, so we know that the Hudds will work.

Personally, I'm more of a Castaic man myself. I don't think Hudds will work. In fact, I don't think Castaics will work either. So don't use them, especially if you are fishing against me in a Tournament.

I have a good sized collection of castaics ;) the rock hard series and the catch 22 are pretty good to me;) I personally throw ospreys the most especially in tournaments, won the big fish trophy 2 times because of that bait.

Maybe you can help us all on the swim bait techniques. I know many guys dont throw them and wish I used them more often myself cuz they catch big fish.

For small swimbaits I use the Basstrix Extreme Vibration Tubes.

And for the ADDICTED swimbait guys, I'd recommend the Huddleston Deluxe.

Colors vary, I like the Chartruese Shad personally. It all depends on the conditions light calm days I use the ghost colored baits.
for darker overcast days I use the Chartruese Shad. "match the hatch" also.

I slow roll the swimbaits, if you burn them they'll float right up to the top..

That should get you started on some good quality lures.
