Spinning Reels & Gear !
How many here use spinning gear?
I use them all the time, and prefer them over baitcasters. They are more affordable, and not only that I dont have to deal with backlashes. I can skip my senkos all day long without having to pick off a birds nest. It is practically a worry free reel.
Best thing about my reels, is that they are both left and right handed. Depending on my mood, I can switch the handle over any time.
... now you cant say that with a baitcaster!

RE:Spinning Reels & Gear !
I do, I do.
You can still get 'backlashes' on a spinning reel if the line decides to 'balloon' off because the line wasn't put on correctly, or got twisted if the handle is turned while the fish is taking drag, or a plastic worm, ect., spins in the water and twists the line. But all that ain't nowheres near as bad as a levelwind's 'professional overrun'.

I must be cool. I've played with casting reels also, but I prefer spinning these days.

RE:Spinning Reels & Gear !
If you get a big bass in cover you will wish you had a baitcaster:-" Plus it is ten times easier casting all day...

RE:Spinning Reels & Gear !
bigger baits require baitcasters just to make them long accurate , softer landing cast. Plus nothing beats a baitcaster when trying to winch out a big bass out of heavy cover. I do use spin casters too , but I love my baitcasters. I couldn't live without them.
If you dont like using baitcasters because your worried about backlashes. For one the backlashes will become less frequent as you get better at casting them and for 2 you can allways use the thumb trick to get those backlashes out with easy and be back in the water in under a min.
If you dont know the thumb trick here is a link , go check it out it works awsome.

I fixed the link it should take you straight to the video now. Tight lines all.

RE:Spinning Reels & Gear !
I use spin casters for 1/8oz to 1/2oz lures for finess fishing plastics and jerkbaits , but thats it for me. I use baitcasters for everthing else 3/8 oz too 4 oz lures ( 3/8 oz to 3/4 oz buzzbaits , spinnerbaits , chatterbaits. Jigs 3/8 to 1 oz . swimbaits 3/4oz to 4oz . Frogs and spooks and cranks) just to name a few.
I finally came around and started buying specialty rods for different styles of fishing. Mostly thanks to reading post in this forum lol. You guys where right those rods roxor your boxors. I bought a mojo bass spinnerbait rod and I love it. Drop shot rod is next then a swimbait rod and a froggin rod. Shhhh dont tell my wife lol. Thanks a lot BB and DEZ

No worries BMC,..I absolutely love my MOJO-BASS-ROD,..my SB Rod till I move up 2 GLoomis,..great backbone and the Split-Grip-Feature adds 2 the eye candy for me anyways,..having different rods for various applications makes a HUGE impact on ones confidence! I use Spinning-Reels for light stuff but I'm almost exclusively a Baitcaster-Basser!BucketMouthCatcher wrote:I use spin casters for 1/8oz to 1/2oz lures for finess fishing plastics and jerkbaits , but thats it for me. Nope. I bought it in '89. It's an '88 Ranger 360. It's been in Bass Master Magazine and on 'Fishing The West' tv show, both in '88.

I use both spinning and baitcasters.
I've mainly been using my baitcaster but it can be a headache when trying to cast small, light lures.
I usually carry my baitcaster and small spinning reel whenever i go out.
PS. Quadfather, Gf and I went and picked up the Pflueger President today :thumleft: , thing is very smooth! she got me the 6735 model which holds roughly 120 yards of 10lb test. I was rethinking of swapping it out for the 6740 but i figured my baitcaster can handle the heavier stuff...10lb is plenty for everything i'm going to be fishin for around here.
