I recently purchased the Shimano Curado 201DPV reel and need to get a quality rod. I got luck and its a left-handed reel. I am looking for something to be able to use soft plastics up to small swim baits. Any ideas is much appreciated. All my gear was stolen last season and I am working on getting it built back up.
Thanks

What is your price range? Soft plastics and small swimbaits - be more specific. There is a wide range of lure weights in your post. Loomis 852 or 853 - 852 is good for plastics but would be stressed with the swimbaits. 853 will handle larger plastics - Senkos, worms, jigs as well as hollow body swimbaits.

Generally speaking i would go with a 7 foot heavy action rod, or maybe 7'2" is you find one. throwing a 1oz is kind of a chore with a MH in my opinion. Bass Pro Shops released a new Carbonlite series of rods this year that are super nice and fit into your price range. Check 'em out.

I just picked up the St. Croix Mojo Bass MBC70MHF is perfect for what your asking it to do, and its not over priced like the GLoomis - Picked it up at Sportsmans Warehouse for $90.00 . Fished it this weekend has good sensitivity when pitching plastic.

My 201DPV is hooked to a compre 7' M cranking stick for throwing all my cranks. It works great in that aspect.

What about 2 piece rods? I only have a small car to get to my fishin' holes. Obviously it would work or they wouldnt make them but what are your thoughts for what I want to use it for?

For the $$$ I think the Crucial line of rods by Shimano is the best bang for the buck. However, Lamiglas came out with a new line of rods as well. I'd contact Nick Barr as he knows the Lami line very well - nickbarrfishing.com

Look for a telescoping rod. I know Okuma makes some, but a quick search on TW didn't net any that meet your requirements for lure size.
