Re: Whatcom Creek - Bellingham Wa
Wanted to try whatcom creek. Looking at google cant find a good spot to park. Wonder if anybody can point me to where to go park my car. I was looking at that heritage parking lot from google maps. Or does people just park on streets. Any info is much appreciated.
Re: Whatcom Creek - Bellingham Wa
The chum are done, but for future reference, there is parking at the hatchery and all along the street leading up to it.

definitely OVER....... I fished for about an hour yesterday getting skunked...... Now the nooksack is becoming a hot spot again.... especially near the confluence of the north and south forks.... some really nice quality coho and chums around there.... water is clear and deep....

Has anyone up north seen anything going on yet at Whatcom?
Re: Whatcom Creek - Bellingham Wa
Give it a week or two. There have been a couple caught, and the seals think the fish are there, but they really aren't there in any numbers.

Hows the water looking?? is it puking mud from all the rains
Re: Whatcom Creek - Bellingham Wa
I doubt it. Last time I looked it was fine - it needs to be serious flooding for it to color up because it is controlled at the lake outlet. I think the lake still needs to fill up some this fall before they let it flow freely.countryboy87 wrote:Hows the water looking?? is it puking mud from all the rains
Re: Whatcom Creek - Bellingham Wa
After all of this rain it is murky enough to not be able to see bottom, but it turns back to normal pretty quick. I would guess it'll be in good shape by tomorrow. I have only seen a couple fish showing up there as well, mostly just seals chasing them around. One fish in the holding pond right now but that's it.

well if theres least one or 2 in there i might have to make a mid week run up and check it out.. bring the floats up
Re: Whatcom Creek - Bellingham Wa
The tides are good this week - better earlier in the week. The bite is best from 1 hour before high tide to a couple hours after.countryboy87 wrote:well if theres least one or 2 in there i might have to make a mid week run up and check it bring the floats up

Think I might give it a shot today. It's been a couple years and the Nooksack refuses to give me any luck. Question, is floating a jig in compliance with anti-snagging rules? Seems like it straddles the line legally.

The answer depends on your jig.Jcverhalen wrote:Think I might give it a shot today. It's been a couple years and the Nooksack refuses to give me any luck. Question, is floating a jig in compliance with anti-snagging rules? Seems like it straddles the line legally.
If the hook on your jig is more than 3/4 inch from point to shank, then you would not be compliant. Smaller than that is OK

Thank you! That's kinda where I was leaning but the weighted lure thing was a little confusing.
Re: Whatcom Creek - Bellingham Wa
Anyone catch a chum yet?
Re: Whatcom Creek - Bellingham Wa
So far the hatchery has 3 in their pond if that's any indication... The nooksack sure has taken a royal **** this year, the coho are gone and the best we can all ask for is a fucking chum...... What a waste of river......

Re: Whatcom Creek - Bellingham Wa
Lol this creek is to small for the rains to affect the fish. I'm sure they will be in with or without the rain
Re: Whatcom Creek - Bellingham Wa
85 in the ponds, id say it time to fish...
