Un-named slough/channel on the Snohomish, just North of 522?

Hey ya'll. On the Snohomish, Just downstream of 522 on the West side of the river, there is a short (1.5 mile) side channel that I can't find a name for or any other history on. You can see it clearly on google maps. It looks like it may have originally been a side channel that was dredged into a slough? Its a neat little channel, beware of a couple river wide logs when the river is at higher flows. Would love to know more about it if anyone knows.

I do love fishing sloughs, but thats not a slough ive been to before. I suspect it would be good for coho if it has slow slacky water near logpiles. Cutties might like the structure. i bet its worth exploring.

I prefer the sloughs within tidal influence near the mouth of the river. They are great for cutties and salmon if you time it right and take the time to learn its nuances. Its not for the guys who want instant gratification. It takes time to unlock their secrets.

Jon is right. The sloughs do take time to learn as it does have plenty of nuisances. I'm one of those that don't have that kind of time. I work a lot and have a family that usually plans my time off for me lol. If I want to go fishing nowadays I usually have to plan a week or 2 in advance. If I am looking for bright ocean fresh fish I usually hit the sound on one of my buddies boat.
That slough you speak of is actually part of the Snohomish that holds some cutthroat and the occasional bull trout. A small spoon or small spinner will get you the trout if you are willing to put the time in. They can be fun in ultralight gear for catch and release but if targeting them please use barbless single hook as they can be small and easily harmed if mishandled.

No nuisances. Nuances. The difference being one is an annoying pest, one is a specific trait , condition or trick one must learn. There aren't any pests to be concerned about on the slough, only on fishing forums.

Ive never caught more than 30 sea run cutties in one day EXCEPT in the tidal portion of the river, in the sloughs. If you take the time to learn it, the juice will be worth the squeeze. If not then you'll truely never actually know if it's worth it or not.

Hahaha I see what you tried to do there. Truly I do. I'm actually perfectly fine in not fishing tidal waters. If I wanted to hook into 30 plus fish I know plenty of lakes that are easy game for that. I refuse to fish rivers just for pleasure of holding and releasing fish especially when the fish (sea run cutthroat) are delicate and self sustaining. Plenty of lakes with awesome cutthroat fishing and rainbows if that's what I want to do. Definitely not into bragging and hooking into my limit and calling it a day is perfectly fine with me. plus the smell of that mucky river bank is enough to keep me away.
