Northwest Fishing Reports

Hey I'm thinking about going up to the main river Skykomish to fish for coho this season but I'm wondering if there is any good fishing spots, and when the peak of the run/best time to fish will be. Any information is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

i never waste my time on the sky for coho, its all about the wallace river. its not very wide, and its more of a creek with lots of fish stacked, just drift fish , or float some eggs, best time i think is later sept/ early october, but right after a rain and the river rises, CHROME fish are way up in the wallace.

plenty of places on the sky to get into Coho.. over by the prison in monroe, lewis street in monroe, sultan at gthe cracker bar..

Don't forget Ben Howard area or even the mouth of the Wallace river

Actually zef- We've limited more times at the sky then the wallace... It can be better at sometimes.. We fish around lewis st bridge... But the Wallace can be just as good. We have some holes that people seem to walk by...

I know this is a little off subject but does anybody use dick nites for coho, I was wondering what are some of the better colors for moving coho, thanks.

In the deeper slots, that's all I use is dicknites... 50/50, anything with red or green head... Also twitching jigs is a good bet too... When it come to shallower systems like the Wallace I stick to roe or corkys and yarn...

I was just thinking of trying some in the quilcne or skok this year, thanks for the suggestions what about all pink or nickel/ pink head?

Nickel with pink head should work good.... I use the 2 smallest sizes for coho, don't worry, those little hooks will hold

2 smallest, whoa... #1 is as small I would go haha but then again I have never used a dick nite or a wicked willie.

the 2 smallest are the best size for dick nites, they catch their share of fish.
And weather the wallace or sky is better, thats a debate.
Wallace is small so easy to find fish, they spook easy though and theres not a ton of chromers. Theres a fair share of snaggers too.
the sky is ba bit bigger so theres a little more room to fish. Less snaggers and blah blah

Yeah the Wallace would be pretty cool but is there a lot of shore access? I also will be fly fishing so would there be enough room for me to cast? If not I could probably roll cast... Thanks!

There is a lot of room for casting at the mouth if not too many people are down there. The rest is pretty brushy, but you can do it.

I'm looking on google earth and there really is no access to the river. Any special spots?

If you have waders and the river isnt to high you can wade just about the whole thing, start at the mouth or hatchery and go up or down, those are about the only spots, good starting point, and a few spots you can fly cast but your looking at mostly a roll type cast. The river isnt super wide so its not to bad.
If your going to fly fish though, the sky is way more open from people and bushes, might work a little better.
