New to Washington, and been salmon fishing at possession bait company on whidby island. Just went extremely slow and wanting to know if anyone can recommend a spot to take the family.

If preferred one can pm me with recommendations and setup needed... We are having a blast already.

Thanks in advance... [thumbsup] [thumbsup] :fish: :fish: :fish:

You did salt water...there are a ton of rivers to choose from as well. Do you live on Whidbey? What neck of the woods are you in? This time of year, rivers are going to have a higher chance of success from the bank, generally speaking. But the Puget Sound rivers have been tough this year with the hot weather and lack of rain. Fish seem to be running straight to hatcheries and not biting anything along the way. Still gotta get out there and try though...at least I do.

Live in Redmond Washington, and we been going to possession bait co. to fish cause I found on here that people were catching there. But last weekend it was horrible two days 1 bite.

Saturday there were only 10 fish caught all day and were there over 12 hours. Went back on Sunday and only two fish were caught all day.

Just trying to figureout where would be a good spot that they might be biting or use some lures and snag a few while casting would be nice, LOL... Love the way they fight out here... Its so much fun. But wanting to cut down on all my fairy expenses, would rather drive and use lures than all the fees to get around... We have rain coming in a couple of days...

First piece of advice...don't use the word snag in Washington. LOL...the internet threats will start coming your way quickly!

Tough fishing on the rivers. There are fish there, but the hot and dry weather has them locked up for the most part. But my advice would be the Snohomish system for your general location. Plenty of spots and info on the internet. Snohomish or Skykomish River.

thanks for the advice, that is what lures feel like to me. All I see is these guys casting and recasting all day long.

Nice looking fish in your pic Mizm05, looks like a beat of a fight I bet.

yeah fairies still waiting for the pixey dust to fall on my bait... Guess I will have to go back to good old sand instead of the dust.

Welcome! I've been on board here for 2 years. Great place to learn and network. As far the location, your best bet is to start locally and branch out from there. There are many(many) options for bank fishing. I live in Bellevue and try to work certain spots like the snohomish river, skykomish river and snolqalmie river( all about 30 minutes from your location). My time is limited with work and family so i plan my trips out well in advance.

My only advice is to enjoy and don't worry about your fish count. I enjoy the elements, so no bad fishing days for me!!
You'll have your fair share in due time.

Welcome! Whidbey has some great beach fishing spots, but that's a lot of travel when there are places closer that will produce. Good advice above. The Duamish/Green is spitting out a few fish too, so don't count that out. I'd be happy to provide some info on spots to get you started if you want. Just shoot me a PM.
Good luck and tight lines!
