HYBRIDS ARE STERILE
What I'm asking is "Will tigers move into the shallows as if they were spawning?"
Would they be naturally instinctive to do this?

RE:Pre-Spawn
Kevin have you been to the NW Tigerpac website yet? It is full of information. Click on the musky U link over on the left side for lots of info. Also we meet at the Roundtable pizza in Federal Way just down the road from Sportsman's Warehouse. We'd love to see you there and everyone is very open about discussing how and where to catch muskys. Bill and I don't make the meeting very often because he works swingshift but everyone there is really nice. The club is having tournaments on 5 different lakes in this state that have muskys. Bill and I fish Tapps on a regular basis.

RE:Pre-Spawn
Heya Kevin,
No the tigers don't go into prespawn mode. But I will say the Smallies and the carp are in spawn mode. What better time than now to hit a Tiger? Get on the water man!! I may try with my boat ..if I can't sell it!! ugh! I gotta get out there . The Smallies are probably getting ready out on Tapps!! See yah ! Todd

So in theory, muskies should be moving into the shallows too. If you need a 1st or 2nd mate on your vessel, drop me a line.

RE:Pre-Spawn
I'm not very smart when it comes to the computer. According to www.sandpoint.com....recreation/fishing. The Tiger Muskie spawns just after the pike. I'm not arguing....I just thought it was funny.(I can't link the page)
I guess Lake Pend Oreille has magical powers, makes sterile fish turn fertile. I wonder if it works for people.

RE:Pre-Spawn
Male tiger muskies are almost always sterile, but female tiger muskies sometimes are fertile. I don't know whether it's possible for a fertile female tiger muskie to produce offspring by mating with a northern pike or a muskellunge. Nor do I know whether tiger muskies go through the motions of spawning. Maybe one of our state biologists can shed light on this.
RE:Pre-Spawn
If you can find out, that would be awesome...But now I think I have more questions. Would it be possible then for a small population to be reproducing in our waters? Originally, when i posted this question,i was just curious if tigers would move into the shallows and at least make the general motions of a typical muskie. I don't expect you to know all these answers. But if your able to get any info, please share. I'm still waiting for any helpful info from muskies inc.

RE:Pre-Spawn
Kevin,
NO....Not possible. We also need not start this discussion....people will FAREEK. Thes fish here DO NOT reproduce period. They are all STERILE ~ The onlyTigers that reproduce are the one back in the Midwest and back East. Its a natural thing that happens between those pike and those Muskies. When I fished back there it was very UNCOMMON to catch one. Again these Tiggers here are all sterile!! Hope this info helps you man!

didn't mean to make this a hot topic....on another note I just picked up a couple of musky bucks. I'm worried that they are not heavy enough. How should I retrieve them?

RE:Pre-Spawn
Its alright Kevin...it does become hot for some. But as far as the Bucks. I throw Mepps #5 spinners. Or something similar to that. Right now I would not throw them. I don't think its the right time yet. If you do throw and reel them in slow. Right now it be crank bait time. Until the water warms a bit more.

RE:Pre-Spawn
As stated above, Tiger Muskies are a sterile hybrid. A cross between a northern pike and musky. Whether it happens naturally in a lake or in a lab at a hatchery, the results are the same. Sterile Hybrid.
