fluorescent pink rainbow trout

Post by Volk » Tue Jun 17, 2008 9:05 am

wondering if anyone has ever caught a fluorescent pink bow before. was out at clear lake in pierce cty and my friend reeled in a bow that had a bright pink hue to the entire thing. it was most noticable on its white belly. it is hard to describe, but it literally looked like it had been painted lightly with a pink color. you know how flamingos turn pinkish depending on the amount of shrimp they eat? it seemed that trout ate nothing but pink shrimp. however, i dont think there are any shrimp in the lake.

any ideas?

Did he keep it? I have found some eggs (natural-their own) in the rainbows I caught and kept at Clear lake. Could this one be into a spawn? Most of the rainbows I have caught have a green tint to them. None pink. The greenest ones had snails in the stomach.

He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.

we only caught 1 bow that day and let it go without touching it (wasnt sure if it was safe). but we went out the next week and overheard fishermen say how they were filled with snails. but no, we didnt keep the pink one and check out the insides

I've caught a trout with flourescent green insides. The meat was green but the outside was normal, also had a belly full of powerbait.

Rainbow trout (males ) will turn color ( pink) on their bodies during spawning season.springtime. Clear Lake has always produced some special fish . Keep fishing there they have great kokanee there and you can chum there.

good luck and keep fishing.
