You know, I wouldn't care if I offended someone who was fishing illegally, I'm more offended by the fact they are doing so to care about hurting their feelings. I'd politely inform them of the rules, and if if they didn't pack up and go, and I was in cell range, I'd be calling the poaching hot line to make a report. Then again, I can be a real harda**.Mike Carey wrote:Hopefully the ctach and release change will spell the end of the power baiters on this lake, of which there were several today.

so how was your opening day experience?

I unfortunately worked this last Saturday on a measure in Chehalis.I took my gear but I did not wet my line. The 1 hour measure turned into a 3 hour measure.I do like the Wally World in Chehalis. Its supposedly this states largest one.
When youre up to your rear end in alligators, its hard to remember that the initial plan was to drain the swamp.

RE:so how was your opening day experience?
Well Opening day was very very tuff as for as conditions go ! 25mph wind gust and running 60mph across lk washington was kinda like walking through a carwash (without a car) ..haha
We fished hard , ran the whole lake , not many Bass hook ups but i did manage to make the trophy board with a 5lb smallie :-) ...
I was was cool to see all the anglers out on the lake and shore ! Seward park was packed when we passed it around 11am ...
At one point we were fishing in front of gas works park when all of sudden two of the Duck (land & water) boats came by loaded with folks , They all started yelling "show us your fish" I pulled out my fish and raised it up and they all started yelling and screaming YEAAAAAA !![scared] That was the first time that has ever happen to me on that lake ..haha

Didn't go Saturday but took kid Sunday to Upper Conconully and her and I each caught the same fish at the same time.( no joke was a hungry bugger and our baits must have been right next to each other) was an interesting fight to bring the fish in. Then moved to a new spot where she caught a nice 2.6 pund rainbow, which as it turned out let her win the trout derby. Doing the proud Dad dance.
Other than that slow was the word with no other fish and only a couple hits.

I wasn't worried about offending the powerbaiters I saw on shore, I was referring to the anglers that use powerbait legal, no offense to them. I just meant that I'm not an elitist when it comes to fishing.hewesfisher wrote:You know, I wouldn't care if I offended someone who was fishing illegally, I'm more offended by the fact they are doing so to care about hurting their feelings. RE:so how was your opening day experience?
I had a great 5th annual opener fun at Wapato lake this year, close to lake Chelan. Was a little windy, but that happens there. Caught plenty of 11-14 inch planters both trolling a green roosterail from my portabote, and still fishing from the west shore with power bait/eggs. Fished three days in a row, with the last morning being the best -- no wind, fish slamming a little flatfish trolled with no weight on the top. Those fish there seem pretty scrappy making fun twisty jumps.
==urban== please don't tell me to C&R or to fish your way, thank you

" Not the elitist when it comes to fishing " said by the man who boats a 5lb smallie on the first cast in dead on winter !
