i ran into these great plastics while fishing klineline pond in clark county. people were catching fish but one guy was just nailing the slim off these trout. i walked over and asked to see what he was using, and he showed me a flourescent green rubber worm on a hook under a bobber. i was bewildered at the fact that the thing even induced a strike. he gave me one and once i rigged up i could not stop nailing the trout! 15 fish later the worm was chewed to bits so i had to stop but these are great plastics and i highely reccomend them for float fishing trout. i reccomend the chartruese/green colored worms but orange, red work also. when i was fishing i had found another of the worms on the ground but it was hot pink so i told my brother to try it and he could not get a single bite. i am sure there was one variable that made it so the trout did not want the pink but i would not recommend the pink colored worms.

the worms come in a pack of ten and are in a little zip pouch, not a glass container.

p.s these are not the berkley GULP worms, but a powerbait plastic

I'm pretty sure those are flavored, so therefore they are a bait. Which means, you were suppose to stop at 5 trout, even if you release them.:batman:

Yep I haven't found anything that isn't unscented with a Powerbait label on it...

Are these the ones you are talking about?

I looked for 4" ones that came in the colors you were talking about and in 10 a pack, but I couldn't find anything else.

Are these the ones you are talking about?

I looked for 4" ones that came in the colors you were talking about and in 10 a pack, but I couldn't find anything else.

I went to Sportsman's and Joe's and neither of them had them either...ended up buying some 4" power worms in Chartrues/Pepper 12 pack. They say they are for bass, but if we do not tell the trout I am sure they wont know any better (tee hee). Maybe I will run out to the pond Friday after work or Saturday morning.

thanks for telling me about the limit thing, i was kinda thinking i might need to stop because of the scent factor, but when you are in the middle of a russian fishing frenzy its kinda hard to stop because i always want to one up there catches. iskiles look in the wal-mart or fred meyers fishing section they carry them, it takes a little looking because they are kinda hidden. but i am almost certain that the joes on mill plain in vancouver carry's them, i saw them right above the powerbait racks last time i was there. i am not sure about sportsmans because their fishing section is so darn hard to navigate. i tried to post a picture of them but it would not come through.

BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL OUT THERE FISHERMAN MAX. EACH FISH OVER 5 COULD MEAN A CITATION FOR EACH FISH OVER. READ THE REGS. I ALMOST SCREWED UP EARLIER THIS YEAR AT POTHOLES ON PERCH. THE STATE INSTITUTED A LIMIT ON THEM, AND I WAS USED TO CATCHING A GUNNYSACK FULL OF THEM FOR THE FREEZER (WINTER MEAT SUPPLY). AN OLD-TIMER WHO WAS BANK FISHING FILLED ME IN 4 PERCH FROM ALL OF OUR LIMITS. I DECIDED TO READ THRU THE REGS EACH YEAR TO SEE OF ANY CHANGES, AND CHECK THE WDFW SITE FOR CHANGES, ALSO. INSTEAD OF BEING APART OF THE RUSSIAN FRENZY, PICK UP THE PHONE, AND MAKE A CALL TO THE DEPARTMENT, AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT POACHERS, AND OVERFISHERS. yea, we did not keep any of the fish over our limits because i knew we could only keep five a piece. the only thing i was doing wrong was i was still fishing haha. but with the fish in klineline there destiny is to become dinner within a month of their stocking. a holdover is rarely ever caught out of this lake.

I also have experienced great success with Berkley trout worms. I have been using them for quite awhile as they are pretty big in Southern California (where I moved here from), especially when you tip a small tube jig with them. I love to use this method from my float tube; I will usually use a 1/64th oz. jig and tip it with about a half of a trout worm. One color combo that has worked a lot is white and chartreuse but I have found that A LOT of different combos work. I will locate fish by basically slow trolling with a good amount of line out and find that I get most hits on the fall. When there is a good amount of surface activity and I can cast to rising fish they usually can't resist hitting the worms on the fall. I would also like to say thanks to fishingfool for mentioning that they are considered bait because I always considered them a lure so I got the regs and sure enough.

Are trout the only type of fish in there, because I certainly wouldnt stop fishing because the trout wouldnt stop hitting my presentation... Way to go!

yea this lake is pretty much 100% stocked trout. a few bluegill and catfish have been reported but way to few to even target. there is a smaller side pond that has a good bass population and also has good bluegill and huge carp. there are two things that are bad here, no floatation devices allowed on both bodies of water and the fishing pressure it gets.

I picked up some green 3" ones like he is talking about at Joes in delta park last night.

those worms are pretty much the only thing i use in klineline now. i also use flies but the worms produce fish everytime.

yea you are right. but i prefer flys no just because it means i can fish longer without having to stop because once i reach my limit of fish i want to keep i can keep C&Rin the other fish. still a very great bait!

I just picked up some of the Grn/Chartreuse 3" trout worms at Wal-Mart. Can't wait to try them out. My question is on the package it says floating. If these babies float then why use a bobber? And if you plan on using the bobber, would you just split shot it to keep it from floating next to your bobber?

Fisherman_max: Did you hook them through the midsection or through the tail?

I can only find three inch trout ones and four inch bass ones....I suck. However, the three inch ones work nicely and caught both bass and Crappie for me back in one of my secret holes. Pretty good considering the whole lake was frozen over and I had to crash through it in my canoe just to fish. Still lookin for four inchers for trout though....

i hook the worms through the tail. sometimes i get a fish that wont take the whole bait but most of the time they do.

and the worms i have sink. i dont know if we have the same worms or not but thats just what i have.

To all the others wanting to try these out. They are 3" instead. I think the 4" in the thread title is a typo.
I checked Berkley's page and they don't make a 4" trout worm.

Yep, 10 per bag. Find them at Wal-Mart. They are hiding normally low on the racks.
