wallula junction catfishin'...?
Hi all,
New to the site, glad to be here. I had some questions about catfishing by the wallula junction on the walla walla river. I was hoping to find some locals or someone that is familiar with how to catch the big channel cats on that river. I used to go yrs ago and wanted to give it another shot. i will be bank fishing. We used to use shiners that we caught out of the wenas lake but they no longer exist. we used to just plunk one of those off the bottom until a cat picked it up. we caught some really nice fish doing it that way. I remember the fish being very picky about what they would hit on so i don't know that store bought packaged minnows will work. I am also hoping that someone can tell me if its too late in the year for these fish. I believe late may early june is when we used to go. If anyone can tell me where on the river, what to use, what time of year to do this please let me know. thank you in advance.

Just for the record... Catfishing is one of the least talked about types of fishing on the site, and I cannot think of any regular members that reside in Walla Walla. Sometimes when you don't get a reply to a post, it just means that nobody has any ideas or info. about what your posting (Walla Walla)

I kind of googled it up and found a little about it. Says that they move up into the river for spawning around this time in June. I'm guessing baits you'd want to use is nightcrawlers, chicken livers, cut bait of suckers or bluegill.

I fished the mouth of the Palouse last June and caught cats on worms, shrimp, chicken livers and turkey hot dog chunks. I preferred the shrimp chunks the best as I thought they put a better scent in the water and didn't attract blue gills or walleye.
