Here's the WDFW fishing reg from one of the current lead restriction lakes:

pierre lake (Stevens Co.) All Game Fish Year-round Statewide min. size/daily limit. Unlawful to use lead weights or lead
jigs measuring 1½" or less along the longest axis.

WDFW uses the "longest" axis. 2241 uses "shortest".

Yea, what's the deal with not dealing with hunters? They're gonna put a bunch more lead in the water than simply fishing, one sinker at a time! And they'll end up putting it in the exact habitat that ducks and stuff live, rather than in a darn river in the middle of the current where nothing can get to it. Luckily I have about 50 pounds of lead pipe that I'll be able to use to make myself weights, but that's a hassle gonna have to stock up on molds I guess. If this does happen, I'm certain there will be a black market for lead sinkers. Driving fishermen to become criminals based on ignorance and junk science? What's next? They gonna ban mono and braid and make us use hemp line so that we're not leaving miles of plastic on the bottom? I don't doubt it.

Steel shot has been a requirement for about 20 years for hunting ducks. Jeez, has it really been that long? Yep!
I agree with the rest of it Nate! Mono and braid is "deadly" to wildlife. That was one of the arguments to ban plastic bags recently. Legislators can't figure out how to improve job conditions so they are doing "busy" work just to look like they are working. How many of them have even fished? We could all send them a "Scooby Doo" rod/reel combo. LOL

All you need to do is go to the find your district page and it will provide an email form you can use to communicate with all your elected officials. Be sure to mention that you vote and will be watching the outcome of the vote and you look forward to speaking with them on their impending campaign.

Here's the link I used earlier to ask my reps to "kill the bill, 2241". It's very easy to use. It contacted all 3 of my state reps, state house and senate. Just enter name, address, ph #. It'll hook ya up. I liked what Nate provided also, that gets you to the committee, better to kill it in committee than fight it in the House.

I listened to a talk radio show today that said the ban would include lures like Rooster Tails and Mepps that incorporate lead as their weight. Does anyone know what Wordens stance is on this?

I have never seen a jig molded of anything but lead. You could mold tin, but the size is much larger. So, how many of you use jigs for perch or bass or steel head?

There is more then lead available. Most all my jigs are brass head, I have 1/32nd to 1/4. I have tungsten for my shot.

They are also using a basic "Art of War" tactic of "Divide then conquer". Targeting just "sports" or recreational fishermen. Ensuring commercial fishing interests don't enter the battle, openly excluding ammunition so they don't butt heads with the NRA either. Until later that is!

I won't worry about that, the epa said they didn't have the power to regulate lead in ammunition, so I doubt the state will have the power.

Lead riffle bullets are not allowed in any area the Condor may be encountered.

That would be most of the state. No science backed that up either.

If your friends are using bullets with lead cores then it is just a matter of time.

OK, so it will only be 1/3 bigger. Now, what about cost. If it is 1/3 larger then you will need even more weight to overcome water resistance so we are back to where we started.
