495K sockeye over Bonneville so far

495K sockeye over Bonneville so far

I thought WDFW was a little off on the Columbia sockeye forecast. Guess I was wrong as the current number is higher than estimated.

I will be out fishing for them next week.

wow . But it's a ways from Tacoma .so Just for entertaining wishfull thoughts that I may get a possible day off whats the limit ?

0-3-6 sockeye depending on which part of the Columbia being fished.

Any advice on fishing for these? Never caught a sockeye before and I'd be fishing the upper Columbia and Okanogan Rivers.

What you mean to say is Brewster Pool. Pretty darn close to any red Koke set up tipped with shrimp. Search for it in the river fiahing and Baker Lake.

I would say check the regs closely if you're thinking about the Oakanogan, the last itme I fished the pool it was off limits.

Usually the Okanogan river is warm and the salmon mill around in the Columbia at the Okanogan mouth. That's the usual spot for sockeye angling.

I have booked a trip for sockeye the weekend of August 3rd. Is this to late in the year?

Maybe its just me but it feels late. but this was the recomendation from a guide I go with typically.
What happens if you get scared half to death twice?

Just to make it interesting when angling for sockeye I threw in my single action rod built on a 9' 5 weight fly rod blank and a single action reel loaded with 8 lb test. It won't be my primary rod (unless it turns out to be too much fun) as my main ones will be 8 1/2' steelhead rods rated for 6-12 lb line.
