nice catfish leahcim_dahc, definitely a beauty. i have never caught one on the westside demonkinght, but i have talked to many fisherpeople that have, and like gpc said, in our neck of the woods lake terrell holds 10+ pounders. supposedly on the west side of the lake they put in "barrel structure" which hold the cats...:-"

i did catch a pretty good size yellow bullhead there...
I have caught many fish in my life. The most exciting? The next one.....

Putting the liver, especially chicken liver since it's a bit softer than beef, in a bit of spawn net before putting it on the hook will help out keeping it in place.

Great thing about catfish...they'll eat just about anything. I've caught them on grasshoppers, frogs, chicken and beef liver, worms, dough-baits...you name it. If they weren't so tasty...I'd say they are one of the nastiest fish around.

Lake Terrell near Ferndale does indeed have some very large, channel catfish; in the 20lb. range. I lived in Ferndale for 7 years and caught much smaller ones, but saw pictures from local fishermen of the "Big Ones".

Tom Reed, the Lake Terrell Wildlife Area Manager can confirm my info.

This is a lot of good information for us that enjoy fishing but are new to the area. I will try and hit harts lake here soon and let you know how it turns out. Later

I've been to harts and swofford more than a few times. I always get skunked. Does anyone have any advice on where the fish are and what time of year is the best to catch them?

I go to the palouse once a year and catch a bunch of channels and blues, but never on the westside have I found luck.

Hoping to get the truck legal in Washington (plates) this week, then get the boat floatable...with luck a few weeks down the road I'll get to take a couple off and head down there... We were looking at the Mossyrock state park as far as camping goes.
