Fishing Goals for the 2008 Season

Post by Fish-or-man? » Sun Apr 20, 2008 7:57 pm

Hey everybody,

Do you guys have any fishing goals for the 2008 season? If so what are they?

Mine are to:
1) fish five lakes (or rivers) I haven't before.
2) Keep a bunch of litter bags in my trunk so I can pack out a bag of litter wherever I fish.
3) Post all of my trips on WL.com within three days of the outing-- even if I was only out for like an hour and got skunked.

3) Fish the rivers more for salmon
4) Beat personal best for rainbow trout, (only a measly 17-18 Incher)
5) Fill the smoker at least 5 times, (mostly chum lol)

Great thread!
I have a lot...
1. Get out with more members from the site (if is looking to hook into some salmon or bottomfish this summer, PM me....)
2. Do some more bass fishing on weekday nights when I have nothing better to do.
3. 15+lb silver out of Area 9
4. 24+inch rainbow out of secret lake (it's been done before, I want another that size)
5. Get some of my non fishing buddies to fish
6. 5+lb smallie from Lake Washington
7. Fish every day of the summer Area 9 king fishery season. For those who didn't experience it, it was one of the best salmon seasons in the Puget Sound in years, excluding Pinks...Those are easy to catch out in the salt)
Don't chase reports...Be the report others chase....

...But you don't have down catching the largest cutthroat in Lake Washington. I swear I'll be the one to take the current record down. My largest this year is about 7 pounds and I'm aiming for a 16 pounder...It's only a matter of time, I certainly hope. :clown:

That's your game man, not mine...I've tried my hand at it a few times before and came up empty...

A few more goals:
-6lb Largemouth
-Spend less on tackle-Figure out what works and limit what I buy...
-Enjoy every minute of my fishing excursions, even if I'm getting the big skunk...Life's too short...It's a pleasure in itself to be relaxing in the outdoors...
Don't chase reports...Be the report others chase....

Haha, yeah I know what you mean. But hey, you're not the only one that has come up empty handed: (90%) do.

I like your goals man. They are attainable, which I think is key, because if you have too lofty of goals that you can't attain, it never works out. Good goals.

Mine would be:

1. Study my arse off this summer with college
2. Catch the record cutthroat trout in LW (this is a lifetime goal)
3. Have fun with the fly rod at Lake Margaret and Pine Lake in the evenings trolling nymphs...did it last year and hooked some huge fish...it's a blast.
4. Perfect my fly-casting and get good at dry fly fishing as well.

Just 4, but they are lofty.

A couple of my goals would be:
To get out on the water as much as I can
Fishing for that ellusive State Record Largemouth (and catching her)
Fish unfamiliar waters, at least a dozen new lakes
Also, to concentrate and dissect more in depth the current lakes I fish
Learn new techniques and to study harder about fishing and bodies of water than I have done in previous years
Get out on the salt more
Best my PB's in all species that I can
Fish with/Meet as many WL.com members as possible
Get a bigger boat
And to remember to enjoy every minute I am out on the water

Hit Idaho agian this year haven't done that for two years (the Clear Water and some Upper Priest Lake Tributaries).
Well its not called Catching!

After reading these I would like to add one: Catch a new personal record largemouth. My current PR is only 3.5 pounds-- I'd be pretty stoked with a 4.

5 pound largemouth
Fish rufus woods and catch a rainbow over six pounds
Catch my first saltwater fish in long beach, either from the jetty or the surf

The unofficial northern pike state record would be nice.
My overall goals are to get out as much as possible, teach my son(2 years old)the basics of casting, reeling and show him new species of fish. His eyes light up after bringing one in. I would also like to go and fish new lakes(exploring)

Well, I'll need to make some more but they ought to work on our Tigers.

My goals this season:

1) Get my son, daughter and nephew in their first bass. They tried hard last year but they haven't given up. This is top priority.
2) Get my first jig bass
3) Delve into the shakey head
4) Better my PMB smallie
5) Catch a silver and or a king salmon.

Spend less time at the computer, more time on the water, line in the water, having a wee bit o the water. Customize my new portabote into a fish assault vessel. Take my kids and family out in the boat many times. Take as many as my friends out in the boat as I can.

I would have to say they will be.
1.Fish some other lakes that are local.I'm kinda partial to my usaul lake.
2.Slow down on the trout fishing and try Bass fishing.
3.Volunteer again with the Hood Canal Salmon Enhancement Group. It's funto catch the salmon in the pens messure, weigh, take a scale for age determination, punch a hole in the fin for DNA and finally release them to go spawn.
4.Hit some more rivers for salmon and trout.
5.Help with the kids fishing derby at Island Lake.Tons of fun watching and helping the kids catch fish.

There they are completely obtainable.
