I have a great deer stew recipe that is easy to prepare and make. I have a sister-in-law that would not try any kind of wild game and she came over and thought it was a steak soup and had two bowls! Makes deer tender and more delicious.

so whats the recipe? i like deer but the others don't care for it. i get offered it alot after the hunting season. we'll be making some slow cooked pork ribs in the morning. going to try using a bottle of kc masterpiece "hot'n spicey" and "original" together as the mix throw in about 5 lbs of ribs and cook for 8+ hrs, should be good:chef:

One to one and a half pounds of deer steak or roast. Cut into 1 inch chunks. Do not use the back strap, that's the most tender and can fix that other ways.
2 stalks of celerey
1 medium onion
3 carrots
1-can of whole peeled tomatoes(14.5 ounce can)
3 cups of water
1/2 tsp pepper
1-16 oz.bag of frozen mixed vegetables(use about 10 ounces)
4 tablespoon of beef base granules

fry deer meat in light oil until brown. Slice vegetables and canned tomatoes and place all ingredients in crockpot. Put deer meat in and mix everything. cook on high 4-6 hours, or slow 8-10 hours. During last hour, put in 1/2 cup of butter and 1/2 cup of flour and let simmer for the last hour. Guarantee you will love it!! Easy to prepare before work and nice to come home to a good dinner!!! Let me know what you think if you try it. I substituted deer meat with hamburger to make a vegetable beef stew and it was good too.

Tried this Tuesday...because of my schedule I had to cook it a little longer. It was a little dry (Probably from the extra hour of cooking). Next time I will use canned tomatoes instead of ketchup.

This is not one to let cook all day, but I live close enough to work to run home at lunch time and put this in the pot! It is very good.
