Ok you sons of the south (daughters too),What kind of grits do you eat.Now the Taboo question...Who dares eats instant grits?I just found a company out of Atlanta that sells some very good grits.A guy I send pickled okra to sent me a bag of grits.20 minutes to cook them. Have to wake a lil earlier.

Grits?
BLECH! Tooey
Sorry racfish but I can't stand the stuff. I recently tried "Menudo" just to be adventurous. I think I might have liked it if it weren't for the Hominy.

I like my steel cut oats or farina/cream of wheat for breakfast. I grew up having a mix of the two cooked with milk as a breakfast staple. I ate grits on a regular basis while in the service, I suppose that I wasn't getting the best product available, I didn't mind it but it isn't something that I'd spend 20 minutes on cooking.
Splitshot - try them loaded up with brown sugar and a pinch of salt. I that dosn't help throw in a dab of butter!

Ok rac now you did it I would have gave you my addy if I would have known that you had pickled okra. Now the grits. Being from the south grits were an everyday thing anyway you can imagine. So needless to say I don`t eat them anymore. But when we go back home a couple times a year it`s the one thing I ask for from grandma in the morning.

The funny thing about Grits from what I've read through the years is there is very little nutritional value in a bowl of grits. Very little fiber,No real measurable amounts of vitamins.Just not a whole lot of beneficial nutrients at all yet from what I remember about the south everyone eats them. I like cream of wheat, malt o meal, oatmeal . These all have multiple beneficial vitamins and nutrients. Yet there is a certain mystique about grits.Im like what G man said I like mine with butter and brown sugar.
