I have two young children and a wife. When they get through the front door, the circus begins. As such, I'm a huge fan of the slow cooker.

Notice I didn't say I was successful with the slow cooker, just a big fan of it.

I need to figure out how to cook trout in the slow cooker so I can put it on hours before my family ever steps in the door.

I've got a 3.5 quart slow cooker with programming (low for xx hours then warm mode for 8 hours).

Any one have something I can use?

I don't have any experience with a slow cooker and trout, but would be very hesitant to try that method. Trout have such a soft flesh and cooks very fast. I'd expect that after a few hours in the slow cooker you'd have mush and bones. If you do find something that works please post it up.

I doubt trout or salmon would do to well in a slow cooker. I use mine twice a week just about. I would think that the meat would totally fall apart. Youd have more of a fish chowder then anything else. I make Cippino in my slow cooker (Italian Fish Stew) but there is shellfish, black cod,and shark in it. If I did trout or salmon I think Id add them for the last hour of cooking just to keep them in larger pieces. With trout you'll have mass bones floating in whatever you make unless you de-bone it.JMO
