Still With It Racs Weight Loss

Post by racfish » Fri May 09, 2008 11:57 am

I went to my Weight Watchers meeting last nite as I do every Thursday evening .I weighed in at 276 lbs. Im now down 39 lbs since my starting. My pants that were 48x30 are now 44x30 and they are loose on me.I went from a xxxlarge shirt to a xxl shirt and even there they are very loose. My ultimate goal is under 200 lbs.I take it 10% of my weight as a ongoing goal.I cant believe I've lasted this long at doing this but the rewards so far have been fantastic, especially on the cost saving I'm getting buying less medications(more money for fishing gear).
Its not so much of a diet anymore. Now its just a way of life.Good Luck Fishing to everyone this weekend.I'll be doing my Lk Wash. fishing as usual.
When youre up to your rear end in alligators, its hard to remember that the initial plan was to drain the swamp.

That is freaking awsome man! It's great to feel the rewards from sticking with something. Well best of luck(not that you need it!!)

Hey Racfish,

I was actually thinking about you today before finding your update. I am so happy to hear you are still with it and loosing weight. Outstanding! I sent you a PM (not sure if you ever got it) back when you started your program. I mentioned to you that I had also decided last December that it was time for a permanent change in my life and explained that I had completely changed my eating habits and had begun to walk for exercise. My goal was to eat healthy, and if weight loss came with it, that was fine, but if it didn’t, that was also okay as well. I knew that eating healthy would be better for me long term and I would feel better. In 5 months as of last week I have lost 54 pounds and I feel absolutely great. Like you, my clothes are also much looser fitting and clothes I haven’t worn in years now fit. What a great feeling. I have plateaued twice in 5 months and learned through doing some research that the body will adjust to what ever a person is eating, healthy or otherwise which causes the plateau. To avoid the body’s attempt to plateau, I learned that eating one meal a week that is higher in calories and fat will help keep the metabolic rate from slowing. So far it has worked. I think I mentioned in my PM to you that I had also made a list of all the foods I used to eat and that the list was long. Making that list really did make a difference in how I eat now. I was shocked to see on paper what I was actually eating every day, thousands of calories and fat, but normal meals by American standards. I am amazed by what people eat without giving it a second thought. I watch what my co-workers eat at lunch and I think to myself, do they realize what they are actually eating? Anyway, I am really happy to hear you are still with the program and doing so well. Congrats and keep it up. I share my own progress with hope only to inspire someone else to make a change, not to steal your thunder by any means. Again, great job.
