Reaction Strike Revolution Shad 4"
Reaction Strike Revolution Shad 4"
OK, here's the new small hard swimbait from RS. First thing you'll notice is, even though they are both "4 inch" baits, the RS Shad is WAY bigger than the Tru Tungstun when compared side to side (see photo). It's not too big though, and actually i kind of wish the TT baits were a little bigger.
I'm impressed with the paint job on the RS bait, and the quality of it overall. i got the "bluegill" color pattern, but as you can see it doesn't look like any bluegill i have ever seen and really more closely resembles a perch. They do have a glass perch pattern but I thought this looked a little better. It's only got one hook not 2 like the TT baits, but the single VMC hook is a lot bigger and thicker in gauge than the TT hooks to, so I'm going to feel a lot more comfortable throwing this thing in lakes with big pike in them. Another touch i like is the huge eyes on the RS Shads.
The Reaction Strike Revolution Shad comes in 3 fall rates: float, slow sink, and fast sink. I also prefer this over the TT baits because I don't have to worry about messing with those tiny, tiny tungsten balls. There is no way i could see myself trying to add/remove those things in a boat on the water without losing them. With the RS baits you choose which one you want and go for it. Also of note is the RI baits are a few bucks cheaper than the TT baits. For my money they are a pretty good deal. I would probably buy a few more of these before i bought any more TT baits, although my tune could change once i get them both wet.

Most of the internet retailers have the RI baits at $15.99, while the Tru Tungsten and the Spro BBZs are $19.99.

You mean Reaction "Strike" ?? Reaction Innovations is a totally different company. Anyway, I was thinking RI had a bait I didn't know about.

Great write up on this bait Nik. I like the Rainbow and Bluegill colors for around here. That bait should do well. And ya, it does look more like a perch pattern than a bluegill. A lot more green than what there pictures show. To me I thought it would have more brown in it. Thanks for taking the pic for us to see this.
