cut plug herring
how do you fish cut plug herring from shore or dock? i always thought it was more of a boat method, but i remember seeing someone doing it from dash point dock years ago and he caught a decent silver, help? please?
Re: cut plug herring
The only way , Ive ever done it is to rig it under a big float, slip style and cut plug it so it sort of spins in the current...... Not sure if you would be ever be able to cast and retrieve it without a helmet of some sort...
Re: cut plug herring
Yep, under a float FTW. You can cut it cut plug style or leave it whole. Lots of guys leave it whole and run it under a wing-bobber/Spin-n-glow. All the beach guys call them "rotators" I am not sure how that got started, but its a wing bobber, LOL!

Being less affluent in the money game we used to use balloons. Wed fish the high tide going out giving line and the tide takes the balloon out . Same set up as that nice diagram. You just have to be careful in your casting. Frozen herring needs brining.
