News Flash! Salmon are NOT in season

Post by Mike Carey » Thu Sep 12, 2013 7:35 pm

Conversation over-heard in a restaurant at dinner today, a group of four, two people visiting Washington and two locals:

Out of Towner - "I like salmon, I wonder where this came from? Are they spawning?"

Local Expert - "These are from Alaska. It's not the right time for salmon around here".

My wife looks at me with a grin on her face. I roll my eyes...

Ab Mike, common. You could have leaned over the booth and been the obnoxious neighbor.

I find this type of stuff all of time, at work, dealing with companies that I do bussiness with, everwhere; people pretending to have a higher level of knowledge that have no idea of what they are talking about. But if they say it with confidence people seem to buy into it.....I secound quess everything anymore...

When people ask me where I caught my fish I tell them in the mouth. Thats usually a good way to end a conversation.

People get such strange ideas. I was talking to this lady at a party, she thought that Copper River salmon was a different kind of salmon, like there are Chinooks, Coho and Copper River salmon!.
