Poachers!!!

Post by Teenangler07nwest » Tue Aug 18, 2015 4:30 pm

I was recently crabbing area 7 (north end of Guemes) and was taking our boat and pits out because it was a Monday. Out pots were picked sadly we only got one crab but the day before we had got 12. When we pulled them up the latches were all off and one of the bait containers broken. To make matters worse after trailering our boat I noticed some crab shells from when people clean their crab on shore. All of them were over a .5" under the legal limit some only 5". Poaching is often bad on these pink years for some reason whether in the salt or rivers it's sickening. If you see any one poaching report them immediately. And if you are the @$$hole poaching knock it off there are rules for a reason.

Sadly people who do this have no regard for the rules of for other people. I feel your frustration. I see people headed to the river on the Sky and Wallace fairly often with fishing gear. The last time I called in poaching whoever answered was trying to put me of onto the county because he thought it was a county park, he thought. It was on the Sky while closed and people were fishing. As always if I'm close enough I will politely inform them that it is closed, if they keep fishing I make the call.
