Eugene wrote:Hi Guys. Ok, thank you very much! Sure, I have WA fishing rules and I always strictly follow it. I meant if are any fishes there accordingly to the time of year. For example a season for bottom fish is opened all year acc. to fishing rules, but I think not the all kinds of fish are available here all year around, because maybe they don't like cold water, etc. Finally I know that I can expect flounder here in March. Are there any other bottom fishes here now?
Eugene, I understand what you are asking. You have obviously read the section in the regs. where it gives the open season fisheries for Marine Area 8-2 (Clinton pier) However, when they say "Bottom fish" they give a listing of the many species in this category, on page 10, in the definitions section. There are over a dozen species listed in that.... you are asking what might be there this time of year.
Out of all those species listed, again... it's mostly going to be flounder, sand dabs, and sole. Sculpin, ratfish, maybe an Irish Lord, or perch. The more interesting,, and edible ones.. Lingcod, Cabezon, rockfish etc. Are either closed, or closed due to being out of season. And the other 8-10 species you just don't hear about people catching that often anymore.

Don't think too much about what species are out there, just get out and have some fun, and send us a report. [thumbup]

The Quadfather, thank you! Now, all seem to be clean. But the only one questions - what size of line will cover all these fishes or most part of them? Already I have bought spectra #15, but I worry maybe it is not enough? I bought it just now and it still never opened so I can exchange it to a more thick.

Does anybody know how to cook ratfish? I caught few ratfishes here, but I released them, because I do not know how to cook them. And it is weird, but even Google knows nothing about it. I am starting thinking maybe it is not good for eating at all.

I would not recommend it. I don't even know if they're legal to retain. They're a type of shark. If you do however, treat them like shark. Again, not recommended table fare.
