Mooching

Now I know the most efficient and most popular way to catch salmon around here is trolling. But alas there's no place to put a dr on my inflatable boat. http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs/st ... sNum=50605" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Now I've been doing some research on mooching technique and gear required. What I really want to know before I go buying a decent salmon poll and a level wind reel, is there anybody out there that has fairly regular success mooching for salmon.
And since I live in Bremerton and hood canal's 4 salmon limit looks very tempting, are there spots that typically see salmon bunched up? I don't need or want your secret hidey hole, I'm just a fresh water guy trying to break into the saltwater world.
Any and all knowledge that you are willing to impart is greatly appreciated
