Just in case anybody missed reading this one. I have never seen a report linked via the forum, but I vote this story the report of the year in my book. Read it carefully. While some people were soaking power eggs at Green lake, this guy was on his way to the orient in a 18'-19' boat, fishing Albacore 40 miles off of Westport. BY HIMSELF!! Photos show a blood bath of 26 tuna.
OK, I"ll settle down now, but I don't think I have the stones to have made that trip in said boat. :salut: :salut: [thumbsup]

Mark is an expert captain. I went crabbing with him, and then we trolled possesion, shipwreck, all the way out around whidbey island, and somehow in the fog, he was able to navigate us back to the crab pots by reading the stars. In the fog, in the middle of the day!

(okay, not really, but we did find the crab pots in the fog)

Ya, I know Nate. He has a career on the sea, and skills beyond most of us. We've chatted a few times. I just dug that report and the vision of this guy piloting his boat.. Learning a new fishery.... Rods going off, netting fish. And still getting home.

WOW! Thanks,,, I'm friggin humbled..... all on gaff, one loin shot though, no one's perfect. ;) I was really just lucky to get into the thick of those fish. Some, I would drop the live anchovy 3-6' down along side the boat and watch the tuna grab ass and run!

Thanks again guys, it means a lot.

Yep. WOW!
Look for Wannafish A Lure on FaceBook

He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.

Popped another tuna report up for your viewing pleasure... another good day was had friday... 18 .. and, LOL, I stumbled onto a new way to bring them in the boat.... run them straight into the side of the boat while their nose is slightly above the water line, this seems to stun them momentarily, reach down and pick them up by the tail! LMAO It's the darndest thing and so funny how I figured it out.... LOL

I was just wondering how you could get those bad boys in the boat solo! I'd need a deckhand for sure.
I finally have the last batch in the canner and one smoker full on deck--two full days work just to process! Taking the "trade fresh for canned" option from Merlino's doesn't seem like such a bad idea now.
